Been offered a fiat ducato, 2.8td, x-reg for a very good price.

It is a one owner from new and i've known the owner since he got it.

Has done 99.000 miles.

The problem is:

The van will start fine first thing in the morning and run beautifully.

But..... once you turn it off, whether it's 2mins or 2hrs since it was

started, it will not start, turns over fine, just won't start. Takes about 3hrs

until it will start again.

Anyone got any ideas as to what it could be?

Thanks in advance.....

its a fiat :huh: :lol::lol:

lol, apart from the obvious!

I've got an old p-reg transit at the moment, reliable as you like, it even

has it's own weight saving system: it's so fookin rusty, bits just fall off

it as you drive along!

was told years ago that the water runs off front window pass the wipers and into the engine bay, might be worth looking there.

Fiat is Italian

We all know that Italians are lazy f*ckers.

Point being after you've pushed her to work for a while they need to rest up with a cappacino and a fag.

Park outside a costa, drop a double espresso in the fuel tank, wait ten mins and then she'll be fine!! :whistling:

Is it an electronic engine or is it mechanical? Might be worth while having it break down and use the AA to plug their diagnostic laptop into it if its electronic. If its a mechanical pump, there is normally a stop solenoid on the pump, check its getting power with the ignition on, does it have an immobiliser? Could be that that's packed in as well, when it starts after it has stopped starting, how does it start, like normal right away or does the engine run rough, if rough it could be air in the fuel, process of elimination, i'm afraid no easy answer to say exactly what it is.

Cheers John
