Steering rack help needed before I go postal!!!

I've been struggling to change the bushes on my steering rack for ages now. First off it took bleedin' hours to get the old bush on the drivers side out, followed by what felt like a lifetime getting the new f****r in place. Now that the bush is in I can't get the f'in bracket back on!:censored:

Every time I try to feed the bracket round it goes over a ps hard pipe, I've tried for over two hours today and it will not feed under this pipe. What am I doing wrong??

This job has been a nightmare from start to finish, I would have had less stress taking the engine out and doing it that way, would have been quicker too!

Help I'm at me wits end with the bloody thing

One is a piece of pi55 the other is tight, IIRC I undid an engine mount and jacked it up to make some room.

I got mine in over a pit as stated previously, one thing, patience, I work on trucks n buses and a small point being not so much stressed when trying to carry out some jobs doesnt work in your favour, I have on loads of occasions walked away then returned to carry out said akward task. But I agree it did take me a couple of hours from start to finish and I do remeber saying I wish I hadnt started this f***in job, but I got it eventually. I didnt jack anything up or loosen mounts to give you room , it can be done. Be positive and I bet tomorrow it WILL fit.

JeffTT did say to me that once I'd done it, I would never volunteer to do it for someone else! lol. Very true words there.

Lol sounds like a plan there, I have poly bushes to remove from my car that i'm breaking, so its a one way job as they will be sold.

Have fun tomorrow lol.

Finally got the bracket on :cowboy: Had a good look at the bush and decided to take it out so I could put the bracket in place. Then moved bracket to the side and put the bush back on. :sailor:

Only problem I have now is that the original bolts are slightly too short to catch the bracket. JeffTT did tell me I would need slightly longer bolts, so once I source these I'm done :w00t:

This has been by far the most annoying job I've ever done on a zed and that includes breaking my old one down to the shell and rebuilding the rear sub frame ready to go on my project. I think what made it worse was the passenger side being so bloody easy:gun_bandana:
