I know what i'm about to ask has probably been covered a million times before, but I can't find the thread that I was looking at last week.

On the weekend I made a start fitting after market boost/oil pressure and water temp gauges.

1. Which wire do I connect to for the lights to come on, on the gauges?

2. Where does everyone feed the pipe for the boost gauge through the firewall? I've found a place for the wires to run through but it's not big enough for the boost pipe that was supplied with the gauge.

Gauges are fitted above the cd player in the centre console.

Thanks in advance

You should have two seperate wires. One for Power and another for the dimmer lights. If you only have one connect them to a 12v ignition live. use a multimeter to find one under the steering column. If you have a 2nd wire for the light dimming, you'll need to connect this to the side lights wire, again use a multi meter to find it under the steering column. I would advise putting a n inline fuse on each of both of these before splitting the wire to the three seperate guages.

you can feed the vaccum hose through the fire wall where your bonnet release feeds under the steering column and up on the left hand side. you'll need to do the old lay on your back and arch with feet on the floor outside the car trick

Auto or manual?

You can take an illumination feed from the auto selector bulb feed in the bottom right of the unit or if not and you dont want to take the dash apart and you already have the centre console apart, move a step back to the ashtray light feed, Red wire is the live for the illumination. The only draw back is the ashtray light does not dim, but you can also take an illumination feed from the cigarette lighter light feed. There is only the one wire, the ground is from the case of the cig lighter.
