hi guys just bought my second z being a 92 na model ,pretty good shape for the year.noticed after giving it a long run that the stater desent want to engage with the ring gear when hot leave to cool and no problem, doesent seem like a ring gear problem because it starts when cold or cooler with flywheel in same place ?could be mistaken though.anyone had the pleasure of this problem before.it does make the grinding noise of not meshing ...thoughts or opinions greatly accepted cheers guys

hi mate no i havent checked that am i right in assuming its located behind the bell housing off side of car?

I really hope it isn´t what I had on a previous car....car started perfect when cold or cooled down but once the engine was hot it wouldn´t. You name it, we tested or exchanged it...still no joy. long story short, I had a cracked piston ring that expanded under heat and when the engine was switched off would jam the piston and the engine wouldn´t turn over. went through 4 starter motors before discovering the problem. So I really hope it´s something a little more simple with yours mate, just a worse case scenario to bare in mind.
