Having just removed my poorly engine, (and what a job that was) and having a good poke around i`ve found the small cooling pipes that run to the throttle bodies and then through the turbo`s have been blanked off obviously stopping cooling round these parts! Is this some kind of advance tuning method? lol

Thumbs up on this?

Cheers Dave

Without seeing it, i would imagine it has had a plenum water bypass done, relieves you of many 'un-necessary' water pipes, thus taking a few possible problems out of the equasion that could occur... Do a search on 'plenum bypass' and you may find what you need to know.... HTH

sounds like plenum bypass just done mine the coolant pipes should bypass the plenum and throttle bodies and then run straight to the turbos instead

It`s missing out the turbo`s as well! It`s Blanked from the main ally pipes at rear of engine ( just before it goes through bulkhead for heater matrix) and just after pipes come up off turbo! If that makes sense?

There is a recent thread about blanking the water feed to the turbos, whether it's good or bad, i don't know which is best! But if you look for it, it was only maybe a day or two ago, might be of some use?

Just read the thread in question, cheers Tudor, confused me even more! lol. will have to make my mind up. Got a FMI to go on and also got vents in my bonnet, might keep heat down? decisions, decisions?

the plenum bypass is fine as if im right it was to keep the throttle bodies warm in very cold conditions?? but who wants cold air going through warm throttle boddies etc? & the likelyness of it being used in such extreme cold conditions is low! my plenum has the bypass done & is a lot cooler to the touch than a fellow zedder who haddent had the bypass!! as for the turbo water bypass i dont think thats such a good idea :-(
