Hi guys,

Had the new car a couple of days now and decided to put my old stereo into it, the car has a conversion adaptor, that converts it to a din socket.

Plug the din socket in, stereo works perfectly but there is no sound to the speakers. Took it into halfords and the guy was convinced the rear driver side speaker was arcing, so we took it home and took the speaker out, plugged in the stereo and unfortunately no luck!

Any ideas?

Nobody else have any ideas? :(

have you checked there is a ground wire to the stereo, the stereo could be grounding elsewhere without it but not well enough to turn the amps on?

have you checked the preamp is not turned off in the headunit menu?

are you trying to listen to radio and forgot to plug the aerial in?

Nah, aerial is in, head unit is grounded to a chassis nut behind the dash, green wire is spliced into red/black antenna wire.

No idea what's causing it :( Cheers for your time though!

Just to let you know this has now been sorted.

The amplifier had been bypassed, and one of the loose wires in the back was earthing out the entire system. So bizzare!
