Will probably explain this wrong, but here goes !

Have a load of music tracks saved from various download sites, ie, Bearshare, etc and a few bits ripped from CD`s etc.

How do I send them in an email ??

Have right clicked on the track in question and it comes up with "send to"

I then click on "mail recipient" and it opens my email inbox with the track supposedly ready to send.

When I send it, the person dont get it !!

Am I doing summit wrong ??

Alan.............

Can you not open the e-mail first Alan, then attach the file from wherever you have saved it rather than the way you are trying it.

PC's are a nightmare, have had nothing but grief from mine and my sons over the last few weeks.

Hows tricks btw...

Cheers John

Could be the file size causing issues. are you trying to send a few together, if so cut down the size.

I think this is what he means mate

Open your email software. (outlook, etc)

Click new mail

click attach file

Browse to the music track and attach

send to recipient

Alan,

i've never actually tried sending a music file, but to keep the size down try creating a ZIP file and sending them in that.

And if that doesnt work i'm a big fan of the old fasioned way, burn to a disk and buy a stamp.

Old fashioned works for me GEE !!!

Only problem is, my daughter is 6000 miles away in China !!

Takes about two bloody weeks to get there !

Facebook, Youtube etc is all banned over there, so she has no way of keeping up to date with her music. You ready for this ?

They have even banned 96.3 Rock Radio on the t`internet !!!

Alan.................

Alan, try downloading winrar. I've just had a play with an MP3 file and there seems to be a function when you right click on the track to 'compress and e-mail'. Might be worth a shot.

DITTO !!!!

Oh wait, I am next year ! bummer !

Alan.....

Alan, you could also try somthing like below. We use a similar system at work for sending large drawing files from office to office, should work for music files and photos etc.

https://www.yousendit.com/

this is just one i found on a quick search, there are probibly loads if you check threw whats on offer.

Compressing mp3s wont have any effect as they are already compressed, also most email clients have a limit usually of 10-50mb, avg mp3 is 3-4mb so not many can be attached, best thing to do is zip them up just for storage purposes, and then upload them to some web space and send them the link so they can download it.

Cheers Vijay, wil try that out and see.

The problem is, the Chinese gov block a lot of sites, so you gotta be carefull what you use.

That works great from my living room to bedroom, but will try it to China and let you know how it goes.

Cheers to all who responded.

Alan..........

would it be possible to set up a web hosting account and upload the mp3's via FTP and then give her the password so she can just download them?

just an idea and seeing as you trust her have you tried using remote desktop? she could open up your PC from hers in China via Remote Desktop then copy and paste the tracks onto her's...simples :D

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/mobility/getstarted/remoteintro.mspx

PS she'll need to know your IP address to use it over the web and put that IP into the remote desktop window, security/firewalls will need to be adjusted in most situations. the article above assume you are on same network etc but gives a overview on how it works.
