Hi

ย

I'm new to the 300zx world and was wondering if to go for a zed or a mitsubishi gto?

ย

I've asked around, and apparently the zed can be very expensive and has turbo failures? A chap at work has told me the gto snaps cambelts regularly?! is this true? he advised me to go for neither though??! i have around 5 grand to spend....

Which RS Focus have you been in? Assume your talking about the 225bhp Mk1 not the latest 300bhp version.

The Astra VXR is faster than a Focus RS mk1, certainly in a straight line.

A healthy Zed is faster than a VXR (straight line), but it might not feel it! I know my Zed to be faster than my 260bhp GSI only through the stop watch and landmark speed testing..... in 1st and 2nd gear they'd be close, but after 60mph the Zed says bye bye. The 3 litre TT engine is much stronger mid/high range than the smaller 2litre single tub 4pots!

Like Si said, not really cars to compare.

A workmate has a GGR 300bhp Focus St and my 20 year old standard auto TT kept up with it from the lights no problem, initially from the lights I had to back off as I got better traction.

I do love the fact that these old cars can still waste most stuff.... Had a brand new 10 plate civic type R up my backside down the bypass tonight, dropped a cog down to 4th and GONE. I would be heart broken to be honest, mines even quite new. I'd love one on an F plate, looks old but would be dam funny pulling away from a "fast" car thats 20 odd years younger!

LOL Quavey - Mines an 89 G Plate, feels quite good when you whop a Megane 'Sport' with the Checkered Flag up the side lol or an Integra DC5 with MUGEN plastered all over it - Because we all know, that having the sticker is just as good as having the speed :D
