well, Thanks to baz first, as i popped up to see him on Tuesday and got a few more parts to help get the Zed looking better internally (baz we forgot the silly clip covers lol)

Anyway, new glove box is now in, so no longer have a hole in it, my furry holder is now in place so have a little cubby hole under the stereo to put all sorts of nuts while i work and also collect dust..

Found out what the stereo problem was, earthed it on the chassis and now it no longer turns off when the headlights are switched on. (earth on the loom is apparently rather pants)

New chrome slam panel is now in place (my first bit of bling )

Also tracked down a strange buzzing noise and sorted that out, was the little fan above on the over head lighting unit.

Now have a new problem, seems that i have a very lumpy engine. pulling the plugs off of the number 4 and 5 Coil packs makes no difference to the lumpy idle, pulling a plug off any of the others and the car struggles to stay running.

What would cause 2 coil packs to suddenly stop working? i did change the spark plugs recently would this of caused it? im now using NGK plats. before it had champion ones, but not sure of the model and it ran fine, could it be the wiring loom? or the coil packs?

Need to sort this out as i have it booked for the MOT next Friday.

hmm, well, when i did the compression test the other day, i had to disconnect the CAS, might be a dodgy connection on the PTU after all it does enter the loom just after the CAS and i had a nightmare getting the CAS connector off.

Woot, just finished re trimming my center arm rest in cream leatherette. got some nice thick stuff from Northampton market at £5 per square meter. just playing with odd bits here and there and seeing what the best stuff, to get the stuff to stick it down with is. used a heavy duty carpet glue for the arm rest, not too bad to be honest, but still waiting on my camera batteries to charge before i can get some pics, but im well pleased as i had to cut and fit it.

already installed matey, relocated the turbo timer. my new gauges came through yesterday as well, so need to get a pod of some sort, just retrimmed my arm rest as a test and fitted it to the car and its looking fecking awesome, cant wait to do the rest now.

Had the PTU off and cleaned the connectors up, didn't cure the problem, im wondering if its these spark plugs I've put in, so tomorrow at some point.....hmm busy tomorrow, well Monday at some point going to change them back for the old ones and see if that cures my miss fires on 4 and 5. is there anywhere to relocate the PTU to?

And yeah baz, it was nice to finally meet you in person.

missfire could be the injector connectors?? try the screw driver trick to listen to each injector to make sur u can hear them clicking! (put handle of long scewdriver to your ear & other end on the injector) ...works a treat!!!

that was the first thing i checked, they are all happily clicking away.

so its not CAS related.... try swapping the coilpack connectors onto another working coilpack & see if u get a spark ( as in take a coil pack out with a spark plug inserted & try out of the engine) or swap coil pack around with working one see if any change?

yeah i did that to, i swapped the coil pack for the one next to it. so to be honest, it cant be the coil pack, as it still wasn't firing so its either the wiring loom, or something to do with the spark plugs. the only thing Ive changed engine wise recently is the spark plugs..

So really need to put the old ones back in and see if that's the problem.

Damn it, nailed it down to a iffy PTU. got cylinder 6 firing by cleaning the connections up, and even moving it to near the Fuse box, but number 4 is refusing to fire no matter how much loving i give it. so looks like its new PTU time, or a replacement at least. typical it goes the same week i had it booked for MOT. guess ill have to cancel now till i get it sorted out.
