I have a TT engine here that hasn't been run for a while, the reason the car died was suspected headgasket failure. But amongst my boxes of bit I have a snapped camshaft! Is this something that can happen and what would the symptoms be, or is it likely that some rough mechanic has broken it taking it out? :detective: or maybe madmax tried to fit it. lol :tt2:

hmm, not sure but id place a bet on it being, someone took it off once with out marking it, and centrifugal vibrations when under load eventually made it snap.

Or i could be well off and someone with a angle grinder came along during the night and wanted to make it "look like an accident" lol

Is it true that the cam is unique to the head, i.e. you couldn't get another and just fit it expecting it to work straight away?
