Fitting of JBL 6 X 4 speakers

best way to fit JBL 6x4 rear speakers as they don;t locate with the oem retainers?

Featured Replies

Buy some MDF then cut it over size of the hole in the zed, then cut a hole to fit the new speaker. Mount the MDF in the car then the speaker to the MDF. Bit of a job but worth doing for a better sound. I have just taken mine out of my zed the person that fitted them just drilled new holes in the metal and left a bit gap all round and they sounded crap. Now I have put them in the right way the sound is so much better.

Would depend when billing is on, should be going JAE in Kettering though, just trying to sort my car out first. ran the damn battery dead for some reason doing a compression test. though saying that, it has been sat there a bit now, with only idling going on, while i test things I'm doing. I'm still no further into figuring out this smoking problem, and now my compression results are not looking too good either. but i want to try with a different compression tester first before i start panicking.

Im in wellingborough, so doubt id see you unless you drive through every now and then.

6 x 4? I assume you mean the rears as that's the standard size......

......I have JBL 6 x 4 speakers in the rear of my ZX and they went straight in. I pulled off the mesh trim, unscrewed the old ones, re-connected the wires and screwed in the new ones using the same screws. 15 minutes and job done!

I did exactly the same on my old red ZX as well.......

Richard:yes:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Mine are 6x4 JBL but had a gap all the way round and the fitting holes are way out.
