First of all..................Perfect weather for the zed!!!!

Well i was away in perth today golfing...........while driving there, went to have a blast off one of the roundabouts, tho the car spluttered (if that makes sence?)

anyways thought best just sit and take it easy so i did.

Went and played some golf in the nice sunshine, enjoyed it even with a high score.lol.

Back to the zed on the motorway heading home. my friend pulls up beside me in his rx-8 and all the zed could do is sit with him, was spluttering again, didnt feel like the turbos where going what-so-ever and it showed as i could not pass him when i should have been able to easily do it.

SO anyways........racking my brain wondering what it could be, boost leak, clutch? goosed turbos?:

So i was in 4th gear and brought the boost gauge to 0psi. while maintaing the same speed, it dropped off, is this normal?

Then......later tried again and in second gear the car boosted, but something wasnt quite right as it did not pull as much as it should imo, tho it still shifted and i still got a small splutter.

My clutch is going to be needing replaced soon i think as biting point is quite high and changing gear it is very soft, could this be the problem and while going on boost its slipping and not working correctly?

Car idles fine which makes me think theres no air leaks atall.

Basically wondering what thoughts might be on this, could the turbos be goosed? Could it be the clutch? Can the propshaft effect it atall as i know that now needs replaced due to vibration through seat?

Sorry for the huge speal guys,

thanks alot craig.:boat:

Ok no problem thanks for that max. Was out in the car there. Was boosting but not to max boost I don't think, was a slight splutter also again. Then I thought I heard a kind of vibration rubbing sound. It's hard to explain. It's as if something is holding her back. Need to get some car ramps purchased and get underneath on Friday to have a good look at pipes underneath. Rather than just peaking down. But everything pipe wise etc seemed ok.

seemed OK, doesnt cut it with pipes matey,, had a air leak on my pug, traced it back to a split pipe that didn't even look split.

open the bonnet, with it idling, and see if you can hear any rushing air, is the best way of describing it. can be hard to hear over the sound of a idling engine, but you will hear it eventually if there is one, get your ear close (but not too close or you will burn it lol) and go around the engine seeing if you can here one. if so you have a leak somewhere.

And give each clip a check too see if its done up tight enough.

you can hold a bit of paper or material near the pipes and it will lift if theres a leak from a pipe

Unplug and plug in the new maf?

I have a spare maf I will try. But a lot of opinions etc point towards posible boost leak somewhere, tho it seems fine sitting while on idle. It's like she has a cough.lol

does sound like what i have and im pretty sure mine is a maf problem never swapped it to try it though. mine can feel very sluggish then suddenly il get full boost then loose it again

If you have a new maf available, it's an easy one to try. You will

know immediately if it's at fault.

Had one go on a turbo diesel, it spluttered and coughed every now and then

for a week or so, then it just went, no acceleration at all. Total loss of

power, took around a mile to get to 50mph foot to the floor. Quite scarey

pulling onto roundabouts!

Ok no bother mate. I will try this out tomorrow swapping the mafs.

Tho tonight car boosted fine even tho there was a little splutter but I was pleased knowing it still boosted.

I changed the maf over.......and it appeared to work at first, then on my journey i had 2 small judders, but it was alot better.

these 2 pipes i require may have something to do with the slight cut out with the pipes being slightly cracked.
