HI all,

does the original spoiler come in different variations.

I have seen pictures where it appears to cover the black tinted plastic on the boot and pictures where this is still visible.

Are there 2 types of spoiler or is it just a case that this piece of tinted perspex is simply painted the same colour as the car in some earlier models?

Cheers

Peter

The stock 89-94 Spoiler covers the area where the perspex strip goes. You can't have both at same time.

The 94-98 Spoiler equipped cars have the perspex strip, as does the 99spec spoiler equipped cars.

As above :D + 89-94 spoiler comes in oem rubber form, or can be sourced in fibreglass

Chris

nope ive noticed it too, its the older foam looking one but with the bit where the perspex strip goes is either painted black. or its removed entirely and is replaced with the perspex strip.

I personally think its the first out of the two. its still there just painted black.

You can not remove that part, spoiler is a 1-piece item. It usually has a black sticker over it, but some people remove it.

with the standard sticker in place :

Otherwise I believe you are possibly referring to the aftermarket Kaminari Spoiler, which looks similar to stock, but is quite a bit larger and has the cut out for perspex strip,

The car in this picture has the flat earlier wing spoiler but you can see the perspex strip

This car on the other hand appears to have the same spoiler but covers over the perspex strip

Any other pics of the standard spoiler taken from the rear would also be helpful if anyone has any

no that first pic is just the standard sticker in place. 2nd pic is with sticker removed. Just a black sticker stuck to the spoiler.

Ah, that explains everything. It's a black sticker that looks the same as the perspex strip :)

So doesn't really matter what spoiler i get then. Phew, thought there were different types.

I personally prefer the look with the sticker removed i think.

Peter

Get the 99spec spoiler and perspex strip :)

I got a fibreglass copy of the 89-93 spoiler and now regret it. The 99spec spoiler is much more up to date.

ill stick with the older foamy type tbh mate, i love the look over the 99 spec one. as much as the 99 spec looks upto date, i think the foam shaped one suits the back end a lot better.

Im kind of with you there mate, hence why i went for the replica

i do like the 99spec though :)

Where as I stand totally alone with my quite rare 94-98 table spoiler. Met alxlaw the other nite To give him some bits and he was another one to ask me what spoiler was on the car. Lol i do prefer the 99 spoiler BUT it's just a bit done to death!

what is the 99 spoiler? i think i have the 94 - 98 spoiler on mine. don't really like it too much. WOuld love to have the early one on there in either rubber or fiberglass.

Wow the fit on that yellow spoiler is just plain atrocious, who would be happy with that look.

Personally I think the Z looks best without any spoiler it has great lines that are broken up with a spoiler, I do like the little lip spoilers though that cover the holes and the perspect strip.

That's why I like the 99 spoiler because it still allows you to see those great lines, as it kind of floats over the top.

lwb's need a spoiler really.

swb looks best without.

is the 94 on spoiler the same as the s14 200sx. it looks very similar.

Have you got your spoiler fitted yet Chris?

No mate not yet  need a new engine first lol, its all covered up though to avoid dust and is going on soon :D

any pics?[/quote

Here you go :)

Nah, it's spotless. I've managed to get a second hand one in ok ish quality from a breaker on e-bay Andy300zx.

If you want the one i have now though, you can have first offer when i finally get it off.

Peter

Looks very nice! Just a set of 99-spec rears and some refurbished UK wheels and that will look spot on!

Thanks for the offer mate, but was only thinking of a poss swap with my oem replacement spoiler as i've always been torn over the 3!

will be fitting this one soon though

Cheers, Chris

No prob.

Got the spoiler today but it has no 3rd brake light. Damn it. need to get one before it goes in for paint.

Anyone got a spare kicking about?

Peter
