As above with the drop links, i had these fitted just after my MOT in November and have had nothing but trouble with the front ones ever since.

They were ok for a few days, then i thought i would try them out on the twisty roads, then i heard a click and thought, that doesnt sound good.

I then started getting a creaking from the right hand side and a clicking every time i went over a bump. So i took it back to the garage who fitted them to check it over. Everything looked fine, i got them to grease everything up to make sure.

Anyway it gradually got worse over the last few weeks so today i decided to tackle the problem. The anti roll bar was able to move from side to side, so i tightened the brackets on the subframe up and there were a few turns available until tight. On having a look at he drop links, they seem to have play in them, ie where there would be a rubber bush, its metal and you can hear it moving when you rock it, what a crap design in my opinion. I moved the drop links to the tightest setting, took the car for a run and still clicks and knocks.

I had new front shocks and Eibach springs at the same time all this was fitted, so anyone have any suggestions, its doing my head in.

Cheers

Graham

Could be the top camber arm?? mine knocked like a pig and you could rock it from side to side.

Imo the whitline droplinks are pants in quality and the price you pay is nuts, im going back to stick.

I also had a problem with my arb bushes creaking for a while and i had to wait for them to bed in

Dont know if thats any help???

Hi Dave, i thought whiteline were supposed to be a good make, there is a noticable difference when turning a corner, deffo more sturdy, but i think i may go back to stock drop links, the back one seems fine at the minute. Maybe the fact the Eibach springs lower it a little is putting pressure on the upper and lower arms.

I dunno, i wish id left it alone, there was nothing wrong with it, just thought upgrading would be better

I have the stillen arb's and rear droplinks with the whiteline drop links up front. (stillen dont do them)

The droplinks will make no differance to the performance. thats down to the arb. The drop links are cheap and nasty imo and £100 for them :( . stock version is far better.

Did you grease inside and the outside of the bush?? I ended up using coper grease in the end :cowboy:

I told the guys in the garage, who fitted them to grease everything, but having seen them today, there is no sign of any grease:hammer: And to top it all off, i just looked at the pics on the zcentre of the drop links and it looks like the spacer/fat washer is missing on both :gun_bandana:

The only reason i didnt do them myself originally, is that it wont stop pissing down with rain

Gutted!!!! your drop links will rust in about 2 weeks and will look like they have been on the car from new lol!!!!

The ARB bushes need plenty of grease

Already a bit of rust showing on the droplinks, but i gave em a clean, the next dry day we get i will take them off and grease em all up. I may as well start again

i dont know about the front but i have whiteline ones on the rear which are fine, no noise, cost me 20 quid on ebay!

I was going to ask do you have a pic as sounds like they are fitted incorrectly, but yeh sounds like you've found the issue. Without the spacers you have unwanted movement in the link.

Rears are no problem and the Drop links have poly bushes, so nice and quiet

Just an update, took my car into ATS today to get it on the ramp and have a proper look at the drop links. Bare in mind they were brand new and fitted in January and not November as i previously thought, so on the car less than 4 months and they are knackered.

Im going to order some new OEM ones with rubber bushes, im not going to bother with the so called upgrades with a metal bush. Unless someone knows of some better ones than the Whiteline drop links

what was wrong with them? The missing spacers would cause additional wear and possibly even damage.

Hi Dave, The metal ball/bush part of the link has movement and it rattles like a bugger, You can actually shake the drop link section and hear the knocking of the metal, but its amplified when driving over bumps.

I do think they were not fitted correctly and as you say, the missing spacer wont help matters, I will give Luke a bell tomorrow and see if theres anything he can do under warranty, but in fairness, they have been sat in a box for a year so not sure.

Just spoke to Luke and we have both come to the conclusion that they were not copper greased when fitted, so metal rubbing metal only ends up one way, fubarred.

So another £85+vat for something a garage didnt do and i have no way of proving it either, so my advice to anyone fitting new suspension parts, bushes, drop links etc, use plenty of grease.

I was going to say "Were they greased properly?". I've got these drop links, I haven't installed them yet so after reading this thread I decided to have a good look at them. I've noticed the movement you mentioned but It isn't coming from the ball/bush, it's coming from the stud that connects to the arb having play in the shaft when tightened. It'll be a while before I'm ready to install mine, but I'll report back if I get problems.

Having spoken to Luke, he has had no other problems from anyone else with these drop links and has them on his own car and had no problems in three years so far, so i would say it was an install error.

Use copper grease that you use on brake pads, plenty in the rose joint. The bolts and drop link are supposed to line up horizontally and drop as vertical as possible for best results, but you will find that with the angle of the drop from the arm down to the bar, that isnt possible. There shouldnt be any play in the arm once the lock nut is tightened, you will probably discover this when you fit them, but i should imagine with no load and in your hand, you will get that result.

I will update when new ones arrive
