if my boost gauge boosts fine straight up to +7 and stays there while accelerating hard, does that mean i have no boost/vacuum leaks or could there still be a leak somewhere?? my idle is a little rough, checked a few connections, seem fine, the yellow temp sensor brings the very front fan on when i disconnect it then goes off again when reconnected so that connection seems ok, maf disconnected increases the rpm so that seems to be working ok, put new plugs in and had the throttle valves cleaned. will try an ecu diagnostic tomorrow to see if any codes are registered. where is the tps?

The TPS is on the right hand side of the right hand Throttle body ...little black box thing

at least it is on a 2 seater TT US spec LH drive ..i guess it´s in the same place

thanks, will check the connections on that tomorrow as well.

Usually a boost leak will drop the pressure when on full boost...a big leak, and it sounds/ feels like no fuel, running on five, etc. A small leak may only be detected with a boost leak detector, have a search for this. Have you checked the PTU? If you have a series I PTU, i would go for a series II, very good upgrade and eleminates any running issues derived from the PTU.

7psi is safety boost & is common with a failed det sensor which will usually store code 34 when you do a ecu check.

They are a PITA to replace & many decide to bypass it to get full boost again:

You are obviously running the risk of the det sensor not picking up detonation but this is quite limited in how it operates anyway!

Check for codes first ;)
