Hi Chaps, just wondering if any body has had quality issues with Mongoose exhausts for the Zed.

I recently bought the 6x4 oval exhaust and have had to send it back because the ovals tips were different and it was quite noticable.

They agreed to swap, but could only offer the quad exit which I agreed to.

Just received the quad exit system to find the quad tips are about 1.5inch longer on one box to the other - poor quality? Or am I expecting to much for £500?

 

I'm hoping I'll be able to line them up OK, but thats not the point. I bet those with a keen eye will notice that one back box is sitting futher in to compensate for the tips.

For £500 quid it should fit perfect and sit as it should be, not a half arsed attempt. Send it back, after taking loadsa pics, and ask them why you should be paying out for the fitting on a crap product ?

I have the Mongoose quad tips. Overall I was very happy with their quality vs price. The only problem I had was the hanger on one back box was attached at a funny angle, so I had to bend it to make the box sit straight.

 

Sounds like you've been unlucky so far, but if I were in your shoes I'd send them back until you were sent a set without imperfections. I wouldn't be happy with an iffy stainless steel set.

the end pipes should be all machined cut to the same size if there is a difference of one and a half inches in the two exhausts then I would send it back as that is very poor quality control:thumbdown:

My back boxes are spot on, i have the ovals that you originally got. and they are the same, just mirrored

i have the mongoose exhaust also and its spot on, send it back mate, dont accept that!

The Mongoose name was and still is marketed by Collins Performance as a company they use to have their exhausts manuafactured by another company called Blueflame at that time the fit and quality was first class but sadly the partnership came to an end.

 

Since then the exhausts are made by another company and they are not quite as acurate as they used to be, the change in manufacturer accounts for why some owners have good fitting systems and some not so good.

 

Interestingly the company ( Blueflame) who previously manufactured the systems still do but just not as Mongoose, as the original creator their system may be a better system to look for.
