Hi Guys,

things have change and I'm no longer doing drifting.

I strated my own company in France => Dijon Auto Racing

I'm doing essentially chiptuning but can do pretty much everything the customer want on his car.

I also have a dyno so that's help me finishing my Z32.

The car is now running fine but I'm having trouble with my gearbox.

I bought it brand new two year ago but I've drive less than 5000k miles with it.

The problem is concerning the 4th gear. When I high rev the third, 4th won't engage...

When I bought the brand new gearbox it was already because of this probleme.

Anybody know what I should do?

PS: My car is producing a little bit more than 550 HP at the rear wheels :blushing:

when you say brand new, is that a brand new standard one? if so, no matter how new the box is, your always going to break the gearbox when your pushing almost double the power!

think you need to be looking at getting someone to specially build you a solid gearbox if thats the case, not sure how or where you would get this kind of thing done,

or an auto box, Americans like them as they can handle more power apparently.

There are some previous threads on the subject. There are a lot of higher powered examples not having any gearbox issues, but some others have had problems, such as Mac_1.

An aftermarket box, such as HKS or Hollinger is very expensive. There is the possibility of someting like a Tremec T56, but your looking at custom work for the bellhousing, propshaft, mounts ...etc

Except the stock autobox ofcourse, its the Z's Achilles heel, made of chocolate and cant handle anywhere near as much as the Manual box. Specialist 3speed built autoboxes are used by some for drag racing.

you will have to open up the gear box to see wether anything has was damaged im rebuilding a manual N/A with 50 some thing mils on it iv have bin told that the sincros are soft on the very early models and pre 1994 selector forks are prone to snapping of when your Z32 is running close to 600-bhp and dumping the clutch at hi revs 1st and 2nd gears can be damage with input shaft bearing failure and 3rd and 4th snap teeth on gears you could get billet selector forks and and strait cut gears but beware the strait cuts wine like a bitch the gear box im rebuilding all bearings are being replaced and all gears and selector forks and getting sent for cryogenic treatment but thats another story.

I think alot of the time its down to how often the gear oil has bin changed because theirs plenty of people out there running 600 and more on standard box with no bother
