Hi there, I'm ste & recently i have been looking at 300zx's a lot & wanted to know more about them before buying one... Although this will be my transport to work & back it's only a 10 mile round trip so wont usually be doing any more than 50 miles (ish) a week in it, For trips into town etc. we will be using her car so this is gonna be my baby lol.

I currently own a 2002 Vauxhall Vectra 2.6 V6 GSi & yeah it's got all the toys & not a slow car by any means (200bhp) but the exitement factor is slowly starting to fade & i thought i had better start looking for it's replacement which will be in the coming months... I'm gonna be looking at spending around 3k on one, Will i get a decent enough one for this?

Right, I'm going to stop going on & have a gander round the forums.

Take care all & speak soon :thumbup1:

Hi Ste, welcome to the club mate, 3k should get a pretty decent 300zx but it will be far from mint, Autos are generally a bit cheaper as are n/a (non turbo) ,The Twin turbo`s go for the most money especially manual versions, and then there are Short whel base, slicktops and convertables. Take your time choosing the right one and check for rust underneath and bad welding jobs, smokey engines and rattles!!

If your looking for a fast car then you need to go for the Twin turbo as your Vectra would probably be quicker than an N/A.

You will find some great examples on the forum for sale and if i were buying another i would definaltley buy from here.

I`m only in Southport so if you see any near by, then i could have a look with you and give you some pointers.

You`ve come to the right place for advice as there are some very knowledgeable people on here.

good luck in your search

Welcome to the forum Ste... you are certainly making the right decision by going for a Z... hopefully you'll love it! I would tend to suggest that £3k would buy you a decent manual twin turbo with lots of goodies fitted, theres plenty out there but theres dogs too. Just to reinforce what Daz says, its best to go for a forum car but theres still nice ones out in the wild

welcome to the club Ste. You'll certainly get a decent one for £3k, but you'll want to keep some money aside for repairs and potential mods. Good luck with your search.

Welcome mate! As they have said 3k should get you a good one, beef the budget up abot to maybe 3.5-4k will get you a better one normally tho.

welcome mate, 3k is a good budget, if your not sure what your looking at with zeds, if you find one, post up can someone have a look over with you, we are a helpfull bunch, and here to help.

As stated there are some total dogs out there, but some good ones too.

Dont buy the first you see, unless it really stands out. Have a look at a few, and it soon becomes apparent a good one over a bad one.

I got mine for a bargain £1500!!. for a UK 94 TT Manual.

Welcome matey :) I've got a GSi as well :gunsmilie: However the GSi is not in the same league performance wise as the zed and even an N/A one will blow it away.
