Hi Guys, I've seen a lot of post enquiring how to swap a auto box with a manual one, now, if there was a car with a manual box who wanted an auto, is it a case of just swapping them over, or are extra parts required.

you need the auto ecu harness for the connectors on the auto box i do believe

Just looked on czp and they have different harnesses for manual and auto have a look here

Therefore if you was getting an auto box you would need that harness as well

Would the harness not come with the auto box, as he woouldn't use it 'cos he would get the manual harness. am i being thick here.. or is it a special made for conversions?

 

I'm surprised i haven't seen you, considering your in the next village!! by the way, saw you pics, nice..but what is a tailgate tub?

yeah you should be able to get the harness in question if you are doin a swap its just the auto box has more sensors on it.

However my new plan is to get a good z32 shell from Thetford that is black and im going to swap everything over in the summer. Will be alot cheaper and easier than to sort the arches and sills on my red zed.

 

Oh on that the black shell is an auto as well so any auto bits you need from that i could get for you.

 

I sometimes go through Meldreth on my way to the garden centre on the A10 to the pet shop there. Havent managed to see yours parked up there yet

Pet shop? on the A10..thought it was just a garden centre, where's the pet shop, we are talking about the centre between the meldreth turn and the melbourn turn? what pets have you got..

 

Like the tub, is it a cover or a tailgate in itself?

 

I'm only asking about the swap as i've had no offers for a complete car swap, and as i see lots of queries about auto --> manual, i thought if i swap it with someone, i could keep the body and engine..
