There has been a fair bit on the news these days regarding dog insurance to cover them if they attack someone or another animal. The reports coming out say that it will be on average around £100 per dog rising to £500 for some higher risk dogs.

I myself have 2 jack russell crosses that wouldn't harm a soul. The only danger anybody would have is if they are licked to death.

Personally I think this insurance would be a waste of time and money. The people out there who train the dogs to fight would more than likely not pay this insurance in the first place. In other countries the dog is covered by the house insurance which would be a better idea for a start.

Just another bullshit way of the goverment imposing a hidden tax, Like you say these idiots who have "status" dogs wont pay. I have a staffy myself and she is the softest stupid animal out there yet i still dont let her off the lead if theres other dogs around as you just dont know? Goes back to the fact that ALL dogs have the potential to be dangerous its the owners of them that need to be responsible.

Be a wife insurance tax soon! just in case she bites, kicks or offends someone. Yeah another stealth tax like speed cameras, National Insurance, car tax now called "excise duty" as so little of it is used on the road. They are also pulling a registration thing for horses for the same reason.

Lets face it the only people who will NOT pay for it will be those people with dogs that bite the chav types with no money who have the problem ones.

Agree with what has been said. Should deal with the problem of the low life scum that have the dogs in the first place. Its not the dogs fault and it is not specific to one breed ANY dog can be made nasty although I accept certain dogs can inflict more injury than others. The pieces of shite that are causing the problems will neither get the insurance or pay any subsequent fines. It will be the average working Joe that will suffer again, if this actually does come to fruition.

OH and I have a 5 year old Staffy who has not got a mean bone in him

Infact he is Fookin useless as a guard dog.:lol:

Staffys are the dumbest softest dogs ive ever had and i love em, They get such a bad wrap, Any pictures videos showing dangerous dogs why is it thats its always staffies that are used. They are probably the best dog a family could have as they are so gentle. And of course common sense always be aware any dog can bite but it makes me sick pursicute the honest dog owner yet again.

Makes me sick. ill get off my soap box now before i really get annoyed.

It all depends how the dog is brought up. If you train it as a pup and ensure that the dog is well disciplined then you will not go far wrong. However if they are trained to be a 'status' dog then you are very likely to result in the dog attacking someone.

If this comes into force then I will be paying £200 insurance just in case they bite someone on top of the £30 a month insurance if something goes wrong with them.

The one good point is that they are least trying to get every dog micro chipped though.

I agree with the micro chipping and new powers for police and RSPCA inspectors to be able to remove dogs from owners, But why bother with the insurance??? another part of the ill sue the pants off you blame culture that the good old US of A have spread across the world.

its a load of crap, its like when they ban a chav from driving for driving without insurance and a liscence, these people wont pay for insurance if they have these so called devil dogs, it will just be another thing that the decent folk of this country will be hit by

its the way a dog is brought up, my mate had a labrador that his mother used to feed it chunks of meat thrown out of the window into the back yard as only his dad could go anywhere near it, now there is my riddick, he is a big softie who in the past has had his moments but thats due to shell undoing everything i was teaching him and him thinking he was boss, but now he is good as gold

riddick is an american bulldog and the uneducated gobshite's who hear what breed of dog he is quickly shout "ohh, they are banned and should be put down", its these people that think of all these stupid ideas

why not come down heavily on the owners of these so called asbo dogs, fine them, jail them, take away their benefits

boils my fookin piss

Whatever next.... drunk in charge of a dog?

As previously said, the blame lies with the owners of the dogs.

It'll never work, the only people who'll pay up are the 'normal'

people who have something to lose if they don't.

My thoughts exactly......

.....thing is, just how many people are really attacked by dangerous dogs? Not many in the grand scheme of things, I'd guess - so this is just another "sledgehammer to crack a nut" reaction by an over-legislative government that accept that the majority of people can actually think for themselves.

The sooner they are consigned to the history books the better.

Richard:wacko:

PS Incidentally, I personally do not like any dogs; so no pet owning biased views from me!!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

the goverment are a load of w*****s any excuse to take money from us and plough it into the EU or their back pockets
