Did mine took 2 days was a nightmare but garage wanted £300 plus vat to fit .Brought the matrix new from nissan the new core comes with the copper pipes as well cost about £330 plus 2 new water hoses for matrix.

Take lower dash panels off and heater trunking a few wires , sensors for climate control and plugs remove the side cover small bolts 8mm i think disconect spring .Matrix will not come out on a manual car with clutch pedal and booster in remove bolts on floor for pedal, 2 bolts on the clutch master cylinder under the bonnet and 2 bolts under the clock set and remove the booster and pedal .this takes a bit of jiggleing but it will come out past the loom .There is also a tricky nut under the rubber grommet between the 2 pipes under the bonnet 8mm which you cant see i snapped mine of in the end off the back of the heater box .You will need a new grommet £10 from nissan as these go hard and split when removeing. Also dissconect cable and clip this is tricky to refit as well think theres a heater type ecu box which you have to remove and un plug near matrix once every thing is clear matrix will slide out of heater box .I left the pipes on and yanked it out with pipes attached as the new nissan one had pipes attached but i think you can just change the core if thats the part thats leaking .Be aware on second hand units its a lot of work to find out replacement leaks, pipes can leak as well .The primera matrix requries cutting heater box dash out job dont go there .

whilst on the subject of heaters, the blower dosent work on mine, checked fuses, fine, where exactly is the heater fan? i want to check for current to see if it has power getting to it, any help appreciated.

well you are busy asking silly questions again lol

To be honest folks i wouldn't even ask this bloke anything about the heater core on these motors, i think he held some pipes back once or twice While I was under the dash getting the work done ! :glare:

From what I understand, this is only if you buy a patterm part (non oem). The OEM P10 Matrix is actually more expensive than the 300zx one, its only becuase there are Cheap pattern versions available for the P10 that it can be a cheaper option.

yes but im sure a pattern part has a long enough life span to warrant the cheaper option? but saying that it is a bugger of a job so maby its worth buying a genuine one so that you dont have to do it again!! who knows...

The mod is only to open the slot the matrix slides in by about 2mm , that,s got to be worth doing for a saving of a few hundred pounds !! , even a pattern part will probably outlast the life of the car from now , don,t forget it,s took the best part of twenty years for the originals to fail .

Since doing mine the heaters bloody brilliant , i have to turn it down cos it cooks my feet:punk::punk:

A bit like fitting an aftermarket radiator which most of us have done without worrying about it :whistling:

I couldnt fault the quality of the one i got in the link bud :yes:

I wasn't saying there was anything wrong with a Pattern Matrix !

I was only clarifying that you need to buy a non-OEM version to save money, instead of from Nissan or MJP.
