I`ve been in Zed heaven for a week.

I`ve just got back from nearly a week in the Lake District, Langdale to be exact and the weather couldn`t have been better, cold frosty mornings and blue sky all day, and the roads were empty :w00t:, I`ve done about 300 miles and loved every minute, got the lid off most days and blew the cobwebs from the vert, stunning scenery and great fast mountain roads!

If your looking at staying in the Lakes, I can highly reccommend, The Langdale Estate!! It`s absolutley mint, right on a fast flowing stream with hotel and spa facilties and great food, 8 of us stayed in Beckside east self catering appartment, all the entertainment system was Bang&Olufsen, with plasma`s everywhere, speakers in the ceiling, an awesome steam room, the whole place was the dogs danglies!!!

here`s some pics,

I know it well.... Been to the Langdales since I was a kid

Did you try going over the Wrynose and Hardknott passes round to Wasdale and Wasdale Head? Awesome drive in a Zed. The Pub at Wasdale Head is run by two gay Americans who are a real scream

Did that about 18 months ago and stopped on the way up to take a pic looking back, got caught up by a TVR. Led the TVR all the up and down and then on the ascent up the Hardnott we caught a M3 convertable and a 911. Four of stayed in convoy for the rest of the way Absolutely fabulous turning heads and getting quizzical looks !

Hi Tony, Its great isnt it!!

I didn`t drive those 2 roads, my dad told me about them, I never got time, I went over Kirkstone pass!! stayed behind a Audi Rs4 for a few miles and got a bit twitchy so pulled back, couldnt catch him on the hills.

We should have a club meet in the summer round the Lakes, I think we would all enjoy it!!

Cheers Daz :thumbup1:

Kirkstone is a stroll in the park compared to the other two !

Be good to have a meet up there and do the two ! Can only do it in the dry cos of some of the gradients !

Nice pics there Daz - I love the Lake District.....

...........Did you try going over the Wrynose and Hardknott passes round to Wasdale and Wasdale Head? Awesome drive in a Zed..................!

I did that in my red Z in September 2007 - the weather was good and the road was almost clear. Apart from a family in a people carrier in front of me - in fact one of the kids in it (a teenage lad) had his video camera on the Z for most of the drive. Until they pulled over for a break!

Sadly I never got to ask him for a copy:pinch: - I reckon the ZX looked pretty cool against that backdrop!

Richard:biggrin:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Beats most of the Top Gear Roads..... these are real old roads that'll test your suspension out for real !

That vert is stunning Daz. Makes me want to have one :thumbup1:

Cheers Dave, I`ve fell out of love with my TT because of the vert!! they are just awesome when the weather is good

All costs are relative....

There's loads of value for money B & Bs in Ambleside as well as some great restaurants there....

Or stay at at new Dungeon Ghyll.... don't know how much that is these days

Easily sorted with a few phone calls though !

I did wonder if my name would come in this... I'll put you all to shame with my SWB slippery goodness ;)

To be honest, if we do this Ive a couple of mates with 106 rallyes which will just lunch us up there... LOL Its not too far from where i live (J34 M6) so we could look at doing something like this soon if people were up for it?

B&B sounds more like my price range LOL :blushing:

maybe next year, if all goes to plan will be taking the Z to France this year, all courtesy of tesco clubcard vouchers

there is one Tight U bend on the passes where the gradient is abot 48%- 50% it's a fabulous bend, You have to take a run at it. Last time I did it I still had the auto box in and It nearly bloody stalled.... Poower steering shut down, revs dropped but it made it.... Brilliant and then the down hill run from the top is AWWWSome

Camn't wait to do it again

Well hopefully soon!! I think Quavey is on the case for a club meet around there very soon, so I`m in, AlanZ, Quavey and you Tony!! thats 4 already, anyone else?

Bring it on

We need to keep an eye on the long range weather forecasts because we need to do that in clear air and with the roads dry... and the roofs off !
