as above anybody had one? One caught my eye and I'm not a big fan of the looks but its just as a daily driver for work, thought it would probably be a cheap run around and hopefully not too slow to drive me mad.

Just looking for your experience with owning one and perhaps some things to look out for when checking it out. The guy has already told me the rear bushes need done buts that's all.

I had a 1.6s for about a year when i was 21 not the best car in the world but ok just to get to work and back. Lucky I had a good one with no probs. I can think of better cars for the same price..

A chav bloke has one on my street, and everytime i go to McDonalds i see some fiestas zetecs reving their engines. Personally i think of chavs and baseball hats when i see one. As said theres better cars for the same money :)

My mate had a 1.4 xs pug. it was quicker and cost less on Tax and insurance.

Yeh as I said I'm not too keen on the looks but i've got it down to £700 so for a wee run about I could live with it for a year and then put a for sale sign in the window and leave it parked in mcd's carpark

pretty reliable, common things are heater sticking either hot or cold (new valve) and rear axle bushes. Other than that just general used car check over bits.

:stupid: im sure you will get a buyer there lol

I had a 51 Zetec S for about 18 months. Great fun in the corners, but acceleration seems to die once you get to about 50. From what i remember it had a two issues.

Thermostat failed so engine overheated. Got to the garage in limp mode.

Distributor failed, causing it to fire on three. Again, limp mode to garage.

Looking on the net, they were reasonably common faults, and they weren't expensive to fix. Other than that, had the usual Ford rattles and squeeks.

Cheers for the info, going for a test drive tonight if the guy finishes work before it gets dark.
