best way to get the 300 to give you a kick in the ass??

Right, loving the 300 power.. but there's one thing that nags me. It doesn't feel as fast as it is.

Some cars like evo's type R's etc FEEL fast even if they aren't hugely quick. I understand a bigger turbo (perhaps a T28) would result in a bit of lag then a kick in the kaboose, but is there any other way of getting that? Will jumping the PSI from stock to 15 result in the same effect? Passangers get bored despite me being good at getting the back out around corners

Tightening up (changing the bushes etc), lowering and firming the suspension will help.

Air filter, exhaust, boost controler and chip again will bring the car even more to life.

Loose some weight again will make the car feel more nimble/exciting.

Put some shit tyres on and go out in the wet. You will soon appreciate the power lol

yeah lol . love it

Ah no it's not so much acting like a douche, its also for my own benefit, im used to cars feeling exciting and the 300 just doesn't.. it manages things too easily :p So far I have falken FK452's and they rock, give just the right amount of grip and let out very smoothly

can you not hear it saying ( im going to kill you ) se will bite if you push her

Thats true, I got let off lightly i think, not something ill be doing again

Reducing weight is king! Far more effective than upping power. And it doesnt cost anything to take things out :)

Are you sure its performance is up to Par ? Tried some simple timed acceleration runs ?

In my experience passengers are always impressed by the performance of a Z.....even those with Evo's and Impreza who happily admit that its much faster than their own after a ride in one.

3rd gear Pull for example is very impressive in a Z ..25-100mph with you pinned against seat the entire time.

The Z does'nt have that snappy on/of boost acceleration, but it has immense torque and very long legs in comparison...its just keeps pulling and pulling...and pulling.

and yes a Boost upgrade to 14psi is a big jump in performance, but you have to be sure everything is in peak condition first.

I think the performance is up to par for stock boost levels, it has enough pull to kick the back right out in second and sometimes in third with good tyres. 0-112mph it is exactly identical with my friends 303bhp R34 GTT so I know it's going strong for a 1992 car. However his feels a LOT faster inside even though it's not it proprely belts you back once boost comes on, but mine doesnt have the same excitement it's just lazy :p

Yep, upping the boost to 14psi with a ECU upgrade to make it safe is a significant performance increase. I think this will give you the bang you desire.

As said b4 though, the car needs to be in good shape 1st, make sure you are running correctly, not in safety boost, timing correct etc etc...

Drive an old 1.1 ford for a week then get back into the zed wow it will be fast..:tt2:

This is also very true - haha!

I think part of the reason it doesn't feel as fast as you're expecting is partly due to the car being bigger and bulkier and more solidly built to whatever other car you are used to? - Silvia comes to mind.. Bigger vehicles just feel slower at higher speeds I guess.. Hense why a boeing 747 feels pretty cosy at 500mph.. also, you mentioned about a skyline and other cars.. they all seem to be around the same bhp.. so not really gonna notice much there.. and type R's are fast but I would say about 70% of what you are mistaking for power is noise in a honda

shit im gonna be in trouble as i have been driving my 1.2 clio for the last 5 months:helpsmilie:

thing is with a Z, you can put your foot down when you are already doing 90-100mph (on a racetrack of course) and it pulls and pulls, unlike a lot of 2 litres that accelerate slowly from then on.

doesn't really apply to you as yours is an NA :tt2:

I'll admit the top end pull is impressive - and in a way it's good that its lazy up there, it makes you feel so comfortable doing insane speeds. Oh yeah Baz, I sent you an email :0)
