Today's modern cars are relying more and more on electronic "fly by wire" systems and driver aids that it is inevitable that something will go wrong. And judging by the need to fit an override system in case the driver hits both the accelerator pedal and the brake at the same time, shows that peoples ability to drive is slowly diminishing.
10 years ago if I was stupid enough to hit both pedals, it would be my fault.....period, end of....
Now however it seems it is now the cars fault, combine this with the research into the car being able to navigate and drive it's self leads to a scary future where no one takes responsibility for errors made, and in fact most of our driving skills will be lost.
So next time after a kid is killed on the roads by an out of control car. maybe we will see Toyota in court and not the driver.
