:oops:hi lads , with all my problems i seem to have some thing that hopefully will cure my lack of power , smoke , engine knock (pink) the timing is out by one tooth on all cams , stupid me i timed it up just of the dowls on the timing cover not on the belt , has anyone done this

Featured Replies

I always do it that way, don't trust marks on the belt! (duno why, guess that's how i was taught...) never had any problems with any engines.... yet, haha....... :)

just fitted a genuine nissan timing belt and it was a pig to get all the marks on the sprockets and the belt in line with those on the back plate! but the marks on the sprockets matched up with the marks on the belt so should be good.

Oh dear, I am really worried about putting mine on when my new cams get here... (after I bust one being dumb). I am going to check it, double check it and then check in on here with the members just to be on the safe side.

just something to keep an eye out for il let ye know the news tmr hope it will run better

When I did mine im sure I used the online manual which also gave you the amount of teeth between the sprockets! That combined with a genuine nissan belt and its quite easy.

Mine was done when i got it serviced and the 60K done!

so did I but I found out they didnt replace my tensioner when it failed a year later nearly taking out my engine. I only trust myself to work on it now. Will take me a lot to trust anybody to do any work on mine again! Hence why I did my timing belt myself when I found out the tensioner was fubar.

Just remember to turn it over by hand a few times and keep checking the marks, shouldn't have any problems that way.

That sucks, the person who did mine i have 100% faith in, and i know he wouldnt screw me over and not replace the tensioner. Name and shame matey? If you dont wanna say it on the forums pm me

water under the bridge now mate. cant be arsed and nobody on here will be fudged over by him now anyway.

was an expensive mistake nearly £500 for a full 60k service and i had to do it myself at a cost of £300 a year later. once bitten twice shy as they say.
