Has anyone seen an attractive looking Peugeot lately? I was watching a news article about some of the Toyota recalls, these are affecting PSA in Poland too where the C1 and 107 are produced....just got me thinking how revolting and ungainly they now all look with their stupid over sized grilles and out of proportion body lines.

Their car selection as faced when you look at their home page looks more like a group of failed audition entrants from Rude Dog and the Dweebs...just look at this collection of cretinous looking vehicles.

I mean, can anyone honestly say when the look at this lot 'those cars look cool'...?

Rumour has it that Peugeot designers went out for lunch in 1998 and never returned!

I am not a big French car fan, but Peugeot used to build some pretty decent looking cars...

There are some odd things we never got over here thankfully. I am sure people that have been to Greece, Turkey, Egypt etc remember seeing a sedan version of the Clio called the 'Thalia'.

If anyone's been to India, then you may recall seeing a Fiesta saloon called the Ikon! I was horrified to see this riding around the streets of Mumbai!

Corsa saloon for the South African market.

A serious case when superminis look stupid either in saloon form or estate form. In much the same way as large cars look stupid in hatchback format. The Rover 800 fastback was a prime example of this!

2 key people in this this thread....

There, their and they're. These three words sound the same, but they are spelt differently, and mean different things.

There is about place. There it is! Over there!

Their is about belonging. The children keep their books in their desks. (The books and the desks belong to the children.)

They're is short for they are.

:)

Dislegsyer roles!

LOL. If it did, then 50% of this forum have it out of a population that has about 5% of cases.

LOL - I love how Si's threads drift off topic - How did we go from Peugeots current crap corporate image.. to Dyslexia?

Anyways, I would just like to say, I haven't liked a Peugeot since... The 106 Rallye, the 206 is crock of sh1t and was never a decent replacement for the 205 GTI 1.9, and IMO peugeot only ever done one decent rare car that I have seen called a 405 t16 with 4wd and even that was broken when I saw it..

The french just don't do cars which get my pulse racing.. Maybe in the late 80's.. but that's like nearly 30 years ago...

I agree with what someone earlier in thread said, about it being nice to see an R5 gordini turbo or a Pug 205 GTI go past on the motorway.. I don't think the same will be said about the Pikachu car lol.. Nor do I think any of the current line up with be on the road in the next 20 years anyways..

FunkySi: Not sure it's necessarily hot hatches. Some of Peugeots cars were kinda sleek and elegant, but now they all look like they've either been punched in the face or modeled on a basking shark.

Peugeot-407-Executive-%5BMotorShows-2004%5D-600.jpg

The Basking Shark design is apparently to prevent serious injury... to someone who walks out infront you, they reckon that this design when moving will reduce the amount of deaths as the torso will lie across the car and absorb some of the impact LOL... Yes they designed a car based on one of the best killers ever, on the assumption that it will save lives if it hits you at 30mph..

- You know, you could fall over in the street and bang your head and be in a coma.. It doesn't matter what design the car is, if something fast hits you.. it's gonna hurt regardless..

Exactly, they have no personality. That was what French cars were always about. Something with a personality. Even the 2CV, which was a horrid car had a personality.

Anyone ever remember this? I had a matchbox model of it when I was a kid. Citroen CX Turbo 2.

I used to have a thing for the Renault 19 16v too.

I even owned a French car once and it was one of the most under rated hot hatches available at the time. It produced more power than Vauxhall's C20XE/20XE engine, handled better than VWs Golf and looked pretty neat.

My Grandfather used to swear by his Renault 19 16v and his Renault 21 Turbo.. Back then the company, and I believe many others were more daring and adventurous.. I think Renault are still a little crazy at times, and even Citroen when they want to be.. But Boring old Peugeot, I don't what has gone wrong...

Was able to get bearing from ebay £50 then year later it sheared the bolts from the prop and the back converter box £400 for refurbished prop then december 09 one of the front drive shafts fell apart £250 from Renault £40 second hand, I got a second one But my wife still loves it!
