Front hub removal

Just a quick question. To remove the front hubs do you simply have to unbolt wheel bearing lock nut, located behind the front axle. Then pull the front hub out?

    I am currently updating the suspension setup on my car. Plus, fitting bigger brakes. Rather than bodging the brake deflectors i want to remove them properly. So i thought remove wheel hub then pull the deflector off. Will it pull of or is it welded in place? Do i still need to remove top & bottom tapered joints?

     

    If so where are they located, not shown on manual ie picture above?
