Hi,i have recently inherited a 1994 300zx and i have decided to keep it as it is such a great car.The only problem is my owners manual is in japanese.Could you tell me what the rocker switch is just in front of the auto gear box marked A/T Power. When you depress it it comes on HOLD or POWER.Can anyone tell me what this does.Does anyone know where i can get a manual in english. Many thanks gdm

The hold and power button is to put the autobox into sport or winter modes. Basicaly hold makes the car move off in second and forces it to change at lower rpm. Power supposidly means it keeps in lower gears although mine never seemed any differen. Mine used to go into power mode on it's own when you floored it. Uk manuals crop up on eBay I expect Nissan could get them as well but as the hold power switch was a jap only feature it won't be in the uk manual.

Hiya bud , welcome to the club

In Power mode the engine changes gear at the redline or thereabouts to get as much out of her before changing up but this happens automatically when you floor the throttle anyway , you,ll see a yellow light come on to the right of the steering wheel , when you ease off the gas for a short while it switches back to normall unless you,ve left the switch in the power position.

Hold lets your car pull away in second gear and change up fairly quickly to reduce torque to the rear wheels for driving in snow and ice .
