I'm thinking of replacing my OEM air filter with those cotton gauze types eg K&N./Green? etc.

Is this a good idea ? Do any of you who've done this get better performance / mpg ?

Is it easy to install ? Any advice appreciated. Thanks

You'll get better performance and MPG with an aftermarket intake.

Its easy to fit (just a bit of a bugger getting the old airbox out!)

The fave intakes with Z owners are the JWT, Stillen/K&N, HKS and Blitz models.

Go for it William- you wont regret it!

One suggestion and one question :

Suggestion : Bill Martin (a regular poster on here) has an HKS for sale.

Question : Does anyone know if K&N do a cone filter which fits onto the Silvia air intake upgrade ? Just occurred to me that it would end up cheaper in the long run to get a couple of K&Ns.

Dave,

I've seen a pic on the Paul Bailey website of what looks like a Silvia intake with a pair of HKS filters fitted.

Could be worth looking into.
