Turbo expansion

Hi all,

Does anyone know if or how much approx the rear of the the turbo expands by when hits hot?

Not sure how true this is but after thinking about it as well most things expand when they are hot.....so it got me thinking because the right hand side turbo sits about 1 to 1.5mm away from the block in one area.

Do i have anything to worry about?

My turbos are ceramic coated if that helps in anyway!

Cheers

Dan

Hi Jimmy my turbos are ceramic coated all ready plus putting jackets on i would need to gring more off the block to fit them

at them short distances ide be more worried about it touching with torsional movement..i cant see it expanding more than a couple of thou and certantly not millimeters. Cant you knock in a bit of inner body with a ball pien hammer to stop it touching as ime sure kirbz had to do the same so his tubs would clear

edit....must read posts correctly as ive just seen your close to block and not body:nelson:

how about a strip of fibreglass wrapping inbetween.. its better than nothing. are you sure a jacket wont go round it with a tight fit?

The turbo is to close to part of the block at the rear of the tub. If i remember right i think the gearbox bolts to the part that sticks out. Im thinking of shaving abit more off the block hopefully not enough to weaken the block
