bottom cam belt pulley

Featured Replies

Sadly the most succesful way is to drill it, and then split it with a chisel. It does mean you have to buy a new sprocket, probably a lightweight type, but thats the way out.

just taken mines off with a puller easy enough!

i cant get a puller behind it.

i have removed the bottom pulley without any issue but the cam belt pulley is stuck on tight (the one that runs the cam belt not the aux belts)

i might end up drilling then as i want to replace the front oil seal

You mean the sprocket then.Drill it through carefully then split it with a chisel..Dont try prying it off.Youll damage the oil pump.An oil pump is around £140 the sprocket costs £40 ish.

No mate,a good hss drill bit will do it.Depth the sprocket, put tape around the dril to mark it so you dont do too deep then get drilling.keep the drill bit lubricated so it doesnt overheat.

I used a grinder on mine then split it, you only need a tiny crack in it to free it, my engine was out at the time, as said above, don't loose the woodruff key, i think the new crank sprocket was about 38 quid from nissan...

thanks guys. all sorted now. im putting in an order from the us about $25 from courtesy so not too bad.

should i take the oil pump off or just fit a new seal?

it's only a paper gasket behind the oil pump, so not very exspensive, I'd personally change it, it's cheap, and you may as well do it whilst your down there, but it's up to you pal...
