Faulty Ecu soldering (tech)

A very popular performance mod is a “chip” and boost upgrade, the ecu part of the job requires the Nissan eprom to be de-soldered and a socket to be re-soldered in.

However this is where mistakes are often made with poor soldering causing shorts and subsequently damaging the new eprom. But even the professionals get it wrong sometimes, check out the pictures below, not easy to see in the first one but picture two and three show in closer detail that one of the pins has not been soldered at all and in fact caused the ecu to behave very oddly, very embarrassing for the company involved, 30 years in Auto Electronics and a silly school boy error.
