Hi everyone!

Two days ago I had an alarm fitted on my car. I went to a shop where they sell and fit alarms. The alarm system works fine but it`s been two days since having the allarm fitted and two fuse blow up... Last night for example, I could not switch off the parking lights...I had to remove the fuse...I think it has to do with the allarm installation. What do you think? Thank you!

if that was the last thing fitted or modified, then id agree that it most likely will be that, unless its rained heavily since then and you have water ingress causing a short in the system, but first step, would be to take the car back and get them to recheck there work for a possible short in the system

I went back the day after the alarm was fitted (my interior lights were not working and everytime I was trying to switch on the light, the "door open" red indicator was showing on the dash). They fixed the problem telling me that it was a fuse and has nothing to do with the alarm system...they said it`s because the car is old... Some :xxx:

I am sure it has something to do with the alarm system bacause they did not create a separate circuit for that. :mad2:

Sounds like they have tapped into the interior light circuit and not went to the check relay in passenger side rear quarter like you are supposed to do on the Z to get door trigger

I had to cut the siren wire off because the alarm was going off once activated....can`t wait for 2morow to go there! Is there anything else I should do?

I am soooo angry!

Thank you

Its a difficult one to diagnose without seeing it but sometimes existing problems with bad connections and dry joints are exagerated when work is done on car, i once fitted an alarm to a 1983 porsche which afterwards had no end of electrical problems, turns out the original car harness was rotten, so wait till the garage has had a look at it before losing your temper as chances are they will be a lot more helpfull especially if it turns out to be nothing to do with install.

I know a few good engineers in London if you end up needing it looked at independantly

I am sure it has something to do with the instalation... I had no problems before and all my wires are in good condition as I was advised by my previous mechanic... Only one thing..when I turn the heat on my engine is reving to about 1300rpm but once I press "econ" button everything is alright.

Cheers

Right...

I`ve just removed my alarm main unit and the "door open" dash light stoped blinking. I did not know how to reconect all the wires so 2morow I will go and ask the people who done my alarm to reconect the wires as they were when I went to their place, and ask for my money back. The place is called H & M electronics on barking road. Avoid.

Its a common mistake to make on the Z, its the only car ive ever worked on that the door circuit has to be wired up in this way. Tell them there is a relay in passenger rear quarter that has to be used for door trigger

Thank you.

I will try 2morow and see if they`re open...anyway I wont let them "work" on my car.

So if you know someone who can deal with these type of cars in London please pm with their detailes. :helpsmilie:

Paul.

Just a regular one. It is called Sniper. But at the moment I`ve disconected it... was going off...and I had to remove my 10A fuse from parking lights...they wont switch off... :cursing: As soon as I`ve diconected the alarm my door open dash light came back to normal... :helpsmilie:

Ahhh!!!, not being funny mate but any company that would be fitting cheap chinese junk like that probably doesnt know there arse from there elbows when it comes to installing correctly, its probably scotch locks and sellotape (similar to a halfrauds job!!)

Yeah...I`ve already pulled the main unit and the shock sensor...but don`t know how to reconect the wires :censored: I will go back there once they will reopen.

At the moment when I open the door and see all the wires hanging all over the place I am going nuts!

My car was perfect b4 that :censored: alarm installation!

I have called "car alarmz.co.uk" They said will fit a 2 way pager with turbo timer + remote start and a cat1 certificate...

What do you think about remote start?

My 2ps worth is the more features the alarm has the more chance you have of it going wrong.Thats why i opted for the Toad ai606.Straight forward and IMHO a good alarm.Cat 1 also if your insurance requires it.Remote start is great if your 17 and want to impress your mates in the Mcdonalds car park .

Agree with the Toad alarm, does exactly what it says on the tin ;) Only thing is look into the installers or wait till you get advice from Paul on a fitter. All alarms I've had fitted were fitted by monkeys (even though they were approved installers) and just used black tape to hold it all together :(

The problem is , the Z is really a specialist install that time has to be taken over. There is no reason why thatwith a bit of planning that an alarm shouldnt look like original equipment.

PM me what kind of money your looking to spend mate and ill try and tell you your best choice

TOAD or SIGMA i would recommend

you can pretty much guarantee that SIGMA would be pro fitted as you need a special programmer to set them up and there very small size really suits the Z
