A few years ago I remember paying £320 for my TomTom go 300,Its never missed a beat and it has been very useful to have over the years,I cant remember how I ever coped without it:blush:

Now the prices have dropped to under £100 so I dont know if I should spend £30 and upgrade the map or just buy a new one:whistling:

i was thinking this the other day, my garmin cost me £300 four years ago, i have never upgraded it because like you say new ones are so cheap i might aswell wait for it to go bang and get a new one.

Hi Iain,

It depends on how much you use it! I paid £180 for mine some 4-5 years ago but, like you, I could either buy a better one or upgrade the maps. Thing is, I rarely use it so if I bother to do anything, I'll just go down the map upgrade route.....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I got 1 of these a few year ago when they were double the ££ there at now, I don't think there is a better 1 out there?, built in sim so auto up dates itself with cameras, traffic weather etc. best thing is if it gets nicked they can't use it because you can track it if it gets turned on:gunsmilie:

I also have a go300 with at great expense map of europe and also usa and canada installed on the card, i have had them years.

i was not too bothered but my wife bought me a slim wide screen 520 i think it was, she bought this model with the idea of putting my fully loaded card into it and i can then still have all the maps.

but it cannot be done, the version of the maps is not recognised on the new tomtom, tomtom were so unhelpful and lacking in knowledge, they suggested i buy again, yep i am gonna spend £80.00 again!!!!

the new 520 went back to argos for a full refund and i stick now with the go300.

i update it with tomtom home on the pc every two weeks and dont really have a problem, i will continue to do this until i do.

maps do not change all that much really, you can get by.

my advice stick with your device like me.:tongue_smilie:

If you are tomtom fan then the answer is to go for one of the 'Live' versions

Since I moved to near Preston I've been working in Essex and now in Weston super Mare

I upgraded to a 940 Live a from an 810. The 940 gets live traffic updates every three minutes and constantly checks your route for a faster route and it works. Doing the mileage I do it's got plenty of roads to reroute me onto and it has believe me. Just to keep you moving which is the least frustrating thing. It also has speed cameras, weather, Google, etc on it

I wouldn't have any other device now

Mind you, I'm also going to get the online Road Angel in the new year !

check it out.

Im sure it doesnt have the same facilities as those costing £200. But it will have a years manufacturer warranty. UK only map I guess . And if it gets nicked then its not the end of the world. Ideal I reckon for those who only use one occasionally.

I would try and read some reviews on the Netto one before you buy, some of the cheaper sat navs have crap lock times upto 3 mins for some, and are painfully slow at rerouting if you make a wrong turn.

I got a binatone one from asda £50 i travel around alot with work n stuff, its never sent me wrong yet! Easy to use, slim large touch screen, bargin!
