When we had the mosoon the z started misfiring quiet bad, no smoke but no power. Felt like a cylinder had stopped werkin.

Drove for a few miles and it started werkin again. drove for 20 miles a few days later, filled up and same thing, 2 miles later it sorted itself out.

always seems to clear up after a few miles and rarley happens at all. feel it's getting a bit more frequent tho.

any ideas?

Or injector connectors - they turn green with corrosion!

Check all coil pack & injector connectors!

yep, i'd agree with Quavey, coil pack connector, or possibly an injector connector, but likely to be a connector anyways! :)

If I open the bonnet, stand 3 feet back and open up with a can of wd40 am i likely to sort this out?

If by slim chance the repair mist doesn't work, where do i find this coil pack ye speak of?

yes i have had a few beers :)

haha, nowt wrong with a few beers mate :) i doubt that method will do much good, i'm afraid it's gonna be a remove each connector, inspect, and clean kinda job, might as well do them all, tedious, but necessary.... the coil packs are the six black square-ish things with 2 bolts holding each one in, and about an inch wide oval connector in each one, they go to the spark plugs (via the coil packs), and in front of them you'll find the injectors with smaller square connectors, just be sure to pop of the metal clip on the injector connectors, and be very gentle, no doubt they are very brittle by now.... you'll need to scrape any gunk off the metal contacts on the connectors, i'm sure there'll be a write up or thread on here for the methods etc.... HTH, i've had a few beers too, hahaha...

I think mine does the same thing, but I can tell from the exhaust note that its the left bank, this may help you narrow it down to 3 lol.

While we are on the subject is there any way to test coil packs, or is just a case of swapping and hope for the best?

Baz i got the 6 coil packs off my last engine, ill bring them up when i come for the dash if you want matey

Its ok mate I have some spare, just trying to speed up the diagnosis process lol ;)

I`m having this issue as well. Losing a cylinder after re-start when engines warm but cooling down after a run. Fine when cold and fine immediately after stopping. I have a brand new loom so it`s not that..traced it to no.6 ,typical, always the way! Moved the pack to another cylinder, checked the injector resistance, all ok, still drops so figuring on elec signal. Have borrowed 2 ptu`s. series one still did it. So have relocated n plumbed in a friends series 2 also totally cleaned and sealed the connections with ignition sealant.

Also cleaned up the cas connections as led to believe this can cause intermittant loss. Fires up brilliantly, everything sounds good n strong. So fingers crossed when i can actually move the thing out of the ice it`ll be solved. Also got a series 2ptu on the way pour moi.

If still a problem, check the main plug on the ECU is fully seated in the socket.

Had all the same issues that you mention and likewise on No 6, changed out everything with no joy and eventually traced it to the ECU plug not seated correctly........Doh..!

Well after about an hour...no kidding! managed to get in the car, twas a zed popsicle! Checked the connector and managed to turn the bolt another turn or two so may hopefully have been that! Just need the road to reappear from under the ice now lol! Bonnets still frozen shut. I now remember not wanting to over tighten the connector when i replaced the loom, as i was led to believe it could cause the very same problem! Would make a bit of sense with metal contraction and expansion, especially in this weather.

Cheers for the tip!

still doing it...grrr and i notice that when i switch the winscreen blower off the revs drop to almosst zero before the ecu pulls it up again. I know the idle units fine with no leaks so not that.now have new series 2 ptu fitted so not that. gonna get a new cas off a member on monday.this is an electrical problem for sure only thing left after all this is the injector itself i think.
