Could i have some thoughts and info on a damaged and repaired Cat D?

The thing is i can get the car really cheap.

I'm going to modify it and de value it anyway as everyone likes original NSX cars so for my case does it matter it is Cat D.

The guy said there is no certificate of the work carried but as it is a Cat D you dont need one.

Would this affect the issurance being a CAT D?

Most of my cars have been CAT D, nothing to worry about if the the repair is good and MOTed. Aways get my MOT place to give the car a good once over.

Just got a 02 Honda Jazz Sport with 21,000 only cost me £1500 and just under £500 to fix so say £2000 for a top of the range Jazz with low miles. Cheapest I have seen for sale near me is over £3000. And the insurance is still that same.

So if you have found a good cat D go for it.

From what i can make out the repair work was done by himself.

He is going to email me over some pics of the before damage.

Thanks,

CAT D - very minor damage / stolen recovered.

Damage (if there is any) would of been cosmetic and not structual.

I've owned several Cat D, and Cat C cars. Cat C is a little more serious, but still its a classification where the car is perfectly repairable. Cat C gets recorded on log book. Cat D does not.

Neither Cat C or Cat D has to have its repairs certified, other than standard MoT and VOSA identity check.

Absolutely nothing to worry about.

Hiya,

With the car being a CAT D write off you would need to tell the insurance company when you come to insure the car, as alot of insurance companies will not cover CAT D write offs.

Thanks

Dan

Thats a bit of a harsh statement really, as yes you may get a few companies who won't cover it the rest will cover it but want to charge more for the priviledge.

A repaired write off is nothing to be scared of aslong as the repair has been carried out to a good standard. There are significant savings to be made either buying already damaged or infact repaired.

Cheers :duffer:
