michelle has wanted one of these for months now,the cheapest way to get one is on a contract, i can get one for £15 a month but its a 24 month contract, i get 100 free mins cross network anytime and unlmited texts in the same way

now do i get one or will she get sick of it before the 2 years are up, will she go over her mins and start costing a fortune, can i put a cap on it so it wont let her use the phone to make calls after the 100 free mins have been used

not sure on what to do

not sure on what phone to get, has anyone got one, does it cost more to go on the tinterweb????

Just got the Nokia E72 which is pretty much a blackberry tbh mate and they've forced me onto a 2 year contract - its pretty standard procedure now tbh bud :(

Blackberry was one of my options when looking but this one just seemed very right for me.

Regarding contracts i'm not sure what you can do etc..... I personally pay £45 a month and get unlimited texts, 1600 minutes cross network, unlimited vodafone to vodafone minutes, unlimited landline minutes and unlimited internet (including retrieving my emails etc....) I personally feel i get a great deal and the phone i have is the fvckin nuts to be quite honest. It even brings emails thru to me instantly like it would with texts. I am not sure what you are able to do on cheaper contracts.

HTH :) if it did'nt sorry mate lol :o

I have a blackberry and thinks its a great phone, I use the wifi though my home router when cant be bothered to turn the computer on.

iphones the best out there, but just a comment on the blackberry contract, if it doesnt have unlimited internet dont touch it, blackberrys use push (the emails are pushed through to the handset like text come through), this means you have no control how much data/internet you use, if somebody decides to send you 1000 emails in a day all with large files attached you will be charged whatever the network provider charges per mb, this has been know to cost thousands per month and you have no control unless you turn it off, in which case the blackberry looses its best and tbh only feature. if its unlimited internet then you should be ok but the iphone is all round a much frendlier and more enjoyable handset to own, i have both and would throw my blackberry tomorrow but wouldnt swap my iphone for any handset available at the minute.

I've got the old BB Bold...and what an AWESOME phone it is! I know there's the eternal debate of iphone v BB but at the end of the day it's about what you want it for. If you want to show off how you've spent most of your day downloading absolutely useless apps and just want to watch movies, listen to music and play games (all of which you can do on a computer) then but the iphone. If you want a phone that is second to none at keeping you connected with the world via email, internet (inc facebook) and usual phone stuff then get the BB.

As for contracts, I would actually advise you to go into a store and say you're part self employed and have your own business. If you do this they put you on the business tariff which is at least £10pm cheaper than the normal ones, depending on your package.

I got the BB for £23pm, free handset, 400xnet mins, unlimited text, unlimited internet, free insurance....on an 18mth contract.

HTH

I have had a Blackberry for work for 5 years now and couldn't live without it But I have just bought the wife an iPhone for her birthday and for personal use, I think this is much better.

Cost wise, as Tracemandan said, ensure you have unlimited internet / data on the contract as you can soon rake up large charges for this.

The downer on the iPhone is the high insurance cost (£12 per month with Orange). We have quite few people at work with old phones and an iPhone contract because they broke the screens and didn't get insurance. Not sure how much it is to insure a Blackberry but the control wheel and screens do break quite easily (20% of our fleet have had to be repaired, we have 1300 of the b***ers)

As for capping the contract, we can do that on our business phones, so don't see why you cannot do it for personal contracts but it may cause you problems if you go abroad as the costs for calls go up.

Hope this is of use.

That. I have the Pearl and it's a great phone! If you absolutely have to have email on your phone, then go for a blackberry.

I have an iphone and am pleased with it. It is easy to use and has all that I need. I mainly use it for email, calls and tinterweb. Works well with home network (wifi) but doesn't like wep, much preferes wpa2.

Defo worth checking out, I think I pay 29.00 squidleys with O2 p/m with 600mins, unlimited tinterweb etc ..

I've got an N85 which has a broken earpiece but apart from that it's a great little phone, sat nav etc. In the meantime i had a HTC s620 Smart Phone which i've flashed up to version 6.5 of windows mobile and i have to say very impressed. Full keyboard, 8gig storage, weather and everything else. Only problem is no 3g or sat nav.

BUT i'm awaiting the Nokia N900 (http://maemo.nokia.com/n900/) probably the most powerful phone to be released yet, runs on linux so plenty of scope for people to write new apps for free on it, GPS, etc 32 gig(!) of ram built in as standard. Universally acclaimed as the best phone on the market at the moment if you've got a spare £360 for a sim free one

I work in the phone trade and blackberry is defo the way to go, I have a storm £35 a month 1000 mins anytime any network, unlimted landline calls texts internet and email.

I will be getting the storm 2 next month for upgrade. I wont use any other make now!!

And the Iphone is full of issues, you should hear some of the horror stories i hear everyday.
