I had to strip and rebuild the engine last year and I also beleave quite a lot of you guys have too from the posts in the past. Is the engine quite a common fault to go wrong or are we all unlucky.

 

Are you a complete spaz or what? How can the engine be a fault?

There was a complete engine fitted in mine sep 99 for £1900 inc fit inc tubs, pipework etc & uk parts added on as they went. I have reciepts from preveious owner. He blew it up at Brans!

As i've seen on many past posts the engine & cars as general are quite good if looked after accordingly! This much power, admiration & drivabilaty are hard to find in a car today - never mind 9 years ago!

This is the cost of owning a 'Z', we could have all bought a 325i or have done in the past but now we have the infamous 300zx.

Kids now it from GT, girls love to be seen in it, and you can see the looks from others who stare at you, look in your rear view and there still looking.

You've all been there and are smiling now!

There are only a few cars that can do this to people, some we can't afford, the others we don't realy want.

As I see it this forum helps each of us and our cars, we all thought long and hard about parting with our cash to get one.

They are an animal to own that needs feeding reguarly with cash & time.

But the rewards are priceless!

Those who redicule (postings) from those who ask or need help of this forum (almost owners club!) about these cars should buy a car to there requirements!

Just a quicky.

 

Yes replaced engine ! - is there a problem there - No - if treat correctly - far too many cars out there seem to be running incorrect AFR maps and the like which cause problems. cheap oil is also a killer of these cars. After 100K you are looking at gettin a rebuild done as they are very high performance engines so the weaker components wont last for ever.

I agree with all of the above, at first I was mega pissed off about the state of my car. But now after learning more and more from people on this site and other excellent sites as listed above, I am starting to like my car even though I've only driven it for two or three weeks in nearly six months.

 

Engine is knackered on mine and is due for a rebuild, I am now committed to keeping the car forever until it either gets smacked big time or someone borrows it without asking!

 

These cars are awesome on the road and if you think that they were made until 1999 with very little appearance changes, then all you need is a cheapo privvie plate on and your well up there with the best for around 5K plus.

 

Give me any other car that satisfies that requirement both in the looks and perf. dept.??? And I'll shag Janine...LOL!!!

I had my engine replaced at 63000 due to oil starvation and 3 very sad pistons. It cost 2k + labour. The engine is now breathtaking. Its the best drive I have ever had. I am very sad that I have to sell mine to buy a bigger house(keep the wife happy).

 

This forum is the best I have used and nearly every one is sensible and doesn't mind giving their time to help newcomers.
