Hi,

Trying to remove a bearing out of a washing machine that's stuck solid. Any ideas?

I've soaked it in WD40, hit it with a hammer, tried and air chisel. Can't use any heat as the drum it sits in is plastic.

Cheers

Vijay

i think just hammers and chisels with a bit of brute force, could you not cut it half through to weaken its hold???

It's my Mum's machine and don't want to spend 500 quid on a new one cos of a bearing seal ;)

No space to get a grinder in there but will try a resipricating saw

Do you have a welder??? if you do first smash out the inner race and then run a ring of weld around the outer race, As the weld cools the ring will contract and you can let it fall out, Easy! If no welder heat the housing up with a tourch to expand the housing and knock it out. Or buy a new spyder if it comes to that :)

Wouldn't the heat cause a problem with the plastic drum though?

Managed to get it out with a hammer and bar in the end. New bearings went in today so just have to get the whole thing back together now :)
