Just had Virgin 50meg broadband installed, very very impressed so far. Speedtest.net reported 38meg speeds last night in peak times and i managed to download a 1000 meg (1 gig) file in under 5 minutes at 5 meg a second(!)

A very friendly chap came to install it at 11am yesterday morning and when he got here he went "ah you don't actually have a box on your house or a line from the road, they should have been here for me to install to"

My heart sank but then he said, no problem i'll get the rest of the install done, get a box on your house and we'll try and get a second engineer out tonight to run the cable down to the exchange tonight.

5.30pm in the sark a guy came out against the odds and installed the line, everything went straight on and i'm immensly happy! :hyper:

Now the problem i have is that the websites are too slow for my internet connection

Thumbs up for Virgin Media for pulling it out the bag on the day they said it'd be done and very pleased with the speed i'm getting.

Highly recommended: 5 out of 5! :D

Lucky you, I was with blueyonder years ago unfortunately they dont have optical in this area. :'(

wish we had fibre optic cables here but sadly prob will never have :( no enough houses to make it viable for them.

I had virgin media broadband this time last year, was pretty appalling imo (although it wasn't a 50meg package) ... the routing to europe was crap, laden with latency, packet loss & the like, which when gaming is a bit unfortunate :( It was alright tho for much of everything else, quite expensive tho as it got bundled with a telly package n stuff, but who watches that these days when we have the internet? :)

How much does this super fast webby stuff cost then? I'm tighter than a ducks 4rse and get my t'interweb with my sky tele.
