Finally passed the MOT this morning, the tester was a bit of a know it all, he tested my car yesterday as a 350z cos in his opinion was the nearest match.

I told him that the 2 cars were nothing alike, the engine is a 3.5 for a start and will have cats because of its age. I said how can you test it as another car, no decent reply, just kept dodging a reasonable answer.

I told him that i had been reliably informed by a couple of MOT testers that because the 300zx is not on the UK database it had to be tested as a pre cat regardless of age, he didnt agree:xxx: i showed him the print out with pics stating where the manufacturer stamps were, his reply was: that might just be the date the plastic was stamped and not necessarily the date of manufacture of the car.

The only thing that convinced him of the date of manufacture was a print out i got from my local Nissan dealer, he punched in the chassis number and it came back with the DOM.

I had to take out the white leds from the sidelights and replace with a normal 501 bulb, because he said it looked too bluey, it had to be white

I didnt want to come across as a complete arse with this guy as all i wanted was my car MOT'd, That said, now he knows the score i would take it to the same place next year and shouldnt have a problem with the emissions again.

I would like to thank those who gave their advice

Cheers

Graham

What a nob. There is no need for him to talk like that. But at least now he knows :)

Cheers Dave, looking forward to that.

As for the tester, yep bit of a knob, he has a montego and an old TVR, so considers himself a car enthusiast, but his boss told me his car collection was more like a scrapyard lol, so maybe a bit of penis envy going on there ;)

And ive put my leds back in the sidelights :D

glad it passed buddy, will sort the rest of my stuff out at the end of the months, need more funds and the missus is being tite

He didnt seem too bothered to be honest. I said twice, that you cant test it as another vehicle type, just because mine doesn't exist on the database. I think he knew after i told him, just didnt want to admit it, i probably wouldnt either in his shoes to be honest

Im just happy it passed and i can keep driving it lol

Thanks

Graham
