How do you get the rear hubs off to adjust handbrake

Hi guys, my handbrake aint worth having, i dont know why, but i want to get the rear hubs off, is the disc and hub all one thing? how does it come off and is the handbrake a common fault? thanks

no the disc will come off separately, there are two threaded holes that you can wind a bolt into which will pull the disc off for you, then the hub is held on by a 34mm nut on the driveshaft.

thanks mate your a star, can i ask you one more thing, you know the rear hicas rack, iv unbolted it from the balljoints now i wana remove the hydraulic pipes how do i go about that?

if its a one way thing (i.e not refitting them) cut them off close to the union, then get a socket on the union to remove it from the rack. Failing that it'll be an open ended spanner to undo the unions, they will be tight though - so allow some leverage to remove them. And put something underneath to catch the oil or it will make a mess! ;)

You will have to slacken the handbrake shoes off by using a screwdriver poked through the 12mm hole, after turning the disc to position the hole in the 6 o'clock position.

Dont forget to let the handbrake off before you start, you prob thought of that but I didnt! :o

If you undo the brake calipers and move them out of the way, the disc will just lift off giving you access to the handbrake shoes. You don't need to remove the hubs.

To get the hicas pipes off with out cutting them, you can try some plus gas, a spanner and a big hammer. They are a real pain to undo, but still possible.

excellent mate thanks, iv done the handbrake but the rack i got from a breaker aint any good so i didnt stick it on, im prob gona go for a fixed rear end, hicas eliminator, in which case i can cut it off cant i, do those pipes go right to the front of the car do you have to blank them if you fix the rear end, is it joined to the front ones?

The pipes go to the front of the car. You have a few options; You can ditch it completely (which will involve other parts) or You can use a fitting that comes with the eliminator kit. This joins the pipes together and is the easiest way to get it out of the way.

They look like the tie rods for the front/main rack not to replace the rear HICAS ones.
