Engine rebuild black smoke rev'd

MY FRIEND AND I HAVE REBUILT A TWIN TURBO ZX RUNNING GREAT BUT WHEN REV'D BLACK SMOKE AND ON OVERRUN SOUNDS LIKE ANTILAG.

RUNNING TO WELL FOR TIMING , COULD IT BE A FUEL ISSUE

PREVIOUS OWNER HAS A NO OE PRESSURE REGULATOR ON RIGHT BANK

ANY IDEAS WOUDL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED COULD IT HAVE ANTI LAG ????:duffer:

thats a fueling issue.

could be the regulator, there is only one, the other which looks like one is actually a fuel damper.

Did you happen to fit uprated injectors without changing the ecu?

when you say overun sounds like antilag you mean its backfiring off throttle down hills etc? duno why this is but fuel must be injecting off throttle which is strange coz the stock ecu doesnt allow this, standalone ecus have the option of injecting fuel on overrun tho. pssshhh i duno.

yeah its running sweet until it blew the rear heater hose , but i didnt replace it so i kind of expected that to happen , anyone going on the modball 2010

how much damage would it do to a newly built engine ?????

Running rich will bore wash it slowly.... so u have some time :D but its best not to run it like that, get it on a wideband and see how rich it really is.

if its an aftermarket regulator presently on the car you can use a fuel gauge and set the pressure to 40psi this is the stock settings.

did you touch the heads when rebuilding did you seat valves properly if popping when off the throttle or down hill

hope you get it sorted mate

i just got the heads a small skim and valve stem oil seals , i have looked at the regulator and it has an adjustment screw , which way reduces the pressure , clockwise or anti clock wise , also still a little tappy up top but have not had it running for long any suggestions

Not advisable to mess about with it until the gauge is on. If you do how ever i would get some det head phones so you can listen what the engine is doing.
