Hey,

I'm Mark, live in Europe, Slovakia. I'm about to buy a z32 but unfortunately just a partialy destroyed shell (they are quite rare here...not cheap also lol).

Don't have it yet but I am expecting to get it on december...kinda christmas present :P

Reason I'm getting this car is...it looks the tits!....that car is pure SEX! :D

One question tho...since it's going to be a shell w/ gearbox, no engine...I am thinking what engine should I get there, not saying money is no object....but I am open for any good ideas. Thinking my self either a VG30DE(TT), probably a VQ35DE....dunno either way it's gotta be a V engine, ya gotta love the torque :P

Mark.

Thanx mate,

Think a V8 would be too hardcore for me, thought a 350Z engine with a 6 speed would be lovely, cant decide between the VG and VQ.

V8 is the way, i got a perfect BMW 4.0Ltr V8 that would fit in there just lovely, loads of bottom end grunt :p

Just go with the vg30dett mate. Its a good engine believe it or not ;)Welcome to the club mate.

Cheers guys,

yeh I also think I should get the VG30DETT....but I wonder what are the prices like for a VG30DE or VG30DETT in the uk?

think I could fit into 1000euro for the twin turbo?

Look on the for sale section mate. You would get an engine, dont know about turbos as well mind.

Hi and welcome.Wouldnt it be cheaper if you buy a car in uk or other european country the drive it home and strip it . no import duty then

Hey guys, been a while since visited this forum.

Thing is I didn't buy the car I wanted cause it would get stupidly expencive to tow it.

Luckily I found out by accident that one guy is trying to sell his z32 for 3 years with no luck, well no wonder it's a disaster

The price is reasonable tho, and I'm mechanicaly minded and done some engines etc, anyway he wants 700 euros for it which is peanuts so I'm picking it up on wednesday. So now I am a true Z owner....woo!

The bad bits are: rotten sills, water leak in the engine and by what he told me a knocking noise from the engine, if you imagine a car that wasn't used for 3 years you can imagine the leather interior, this is what caught my eyes and I don't know of any other issues. Think he mentioned there is an LSD.

My question is, how are the sills on other z32's? Does the main frame rust or it's just the outer sheets that rust, cause there is a huge hole size of a shoe :P

Next, is it worth rebuilding the engine, it's a VG30DETT btw, or should I consider buying a low mileage RB25DET, I have no problems rebuilding an engine but I guess it would overprice the RB engine.

The plans are getting the whole shell sanded and weld new sheets and also put it in a zinc bath, then a new paint job, either keep the gun metal grey or red. Throw away the leather and get some new fabrics on the seats, clean the interior and just keep it stock. Lastly fix the engine, either a full overhaul of the VG or get a low mileage RB shipped and swap it. I know it's not a straight forward swap so I'll search this forum and try to find out what will I need to swap it successfully.

Thanks for any comments or ideas.

Mark.

P.S: a dream come true wooooo!

Well done mate! Thanks for updating your project! Im sure all 300zx's (Z32) Diffs are LSD as standard. I would stick with the VG30DETT to be honest, its more issues with engine swaps

Congratulations mate!! and there are other members who have had similar issues so am sure you will get a few replies, i also agree with murt though stick with the vg, or for somin more (certain v8's)

Thanks for the replys guys. So I guess I'm keeping the engine, don't know if I'll rebuild the whole engine or just fix it so I can drive with it...it would be the 4th nissan engine I'd disassemble to pieces which I cant be arsed anymore lol...may be next year when I gather all the parts.

Oh and you might help me out, the front bumper is destroyed and I wonder where could I get this one:

Looks like the stock JDM bumper but it's a bit different, any ideas where could I get it?

Need to replace the whole left sill, probably even the floor panels but at least I'll get rid of the rust. Fix the bodywork, And get that bloody engine started, think I have some trouble with the immobiliser that was added there, will throw it away and try to start the engine. When I turn the key I just hear the starter knocking but it's not cranking, will see tommorow when I'll have plenty of time to figure it out.

Lovin' the car, it's low as foook and sooo sooo sexy :P

Alright soo the engine is cranking, and I see white smoke comming from the radiator filler hole...so the head gasket has gone. Engine won't start tho, seems there is no compression. Hope it's just the HG not a broken cylinder head.
