Hi all.

 

I am a newbie to the 300 world. Im going to have a look at a potential car next week and wondered what to look for...i.e. are there any common things to check. I know my way around a car and will be taking one of my nissan techs from work with me....but hes never worked on a 300!

 

The one im going to check out is a fresh import, 1996 300zx Twin Turbo 2+2.

 

If anyone has any info i greatly appreciate it. Dont wanna spend all my money on a pooper! haha.

I'm looking to spend aroun the 4 - 5k mark. The import has now been sold so I'm looking around again. I have found a uk spec 1990 tt that looks ok. Has high mileage though. I know with any car it's generaly ok if it's been maintained well which this one seems to have been.....but wondered if anyone knows of anything to be weary of around the 113,000 mark??

Phone zworld (Tamworth) for advice! Jeff will help you out, I did when i was buying mine, also get servicing/cam belt changed by zworld would not trust any other garage with my zed!!!!!!!!! Hope this helps. Paul

Not all UK models are rotting, as some are well cared for and have been garaged etc..... however these are few and far between!

 

It has been known for JDM models to be rusting however it tends to be once they have been in this country for a number of years.

 

Your best bet is to get a JDM model that has been newly imported or not long imported at least. Mine has been here 3 1/2 years and the underside is like brand new!!! :cool:

 

If you insist on a UK model then check the rear arches and if there is any there then its usually the tip of the iceberg and my advice is leave well alone. Also get underneath and have a good look/feel around and check properly.
