hi all, thinking about 300zx...can you help me ?

hi,

i am a honda driver at the moment, but this christmas some money should pop in so started thinking about 300zx....always had soft spot for these...and skylines...

anyway, got some questions for you:

- will i find a decent example of SWB (has to be) tt under 3k ??

- will it be a car that will have to be invested in ?? or is it possible to buy a car that will just be working (bearing in mind it would be from 92-93...)

- how high roughly is the insurance...28years...2.5 years ncb...good postcode.. (very roughly, cuz if i am to pay 2k for the 3k car i will give it a pass....)

generally, i ask you for honest opinions, will not spend more than 3000 pounds, and would expect to have a very decent car, that would not need major repairs..obviously things will brake down just because of the age..but you know what i mean....

other thing i am interested in is a skyline r33 gtst...

thanks for your help :)

£3000 should get you a very good (but not perfect) LWB TT targa top. Look in the for sale section here.

Insurance should be less than a £1000 - get some quotes.

Expect to invest because thats what happens!! You get a bug and end up constantly tweaking the car to your own liking and improving it!

I would think you could get a SWB TT for £3k, but you'd get a better LWB for the same.

IMO!

Hi and welcome,

if you do tell me about it :D

more than likely but you never know, most of the cars are getting pretty old now you have to find one that's been looked after member or not to have any chance of saving money

my my have you seen the interior in those ? Only worth overlooking it if it's a gt-r imo :)

Wow those are a huge pair of......exhausts.

Oh yeah, just noticed there's a car in that pic too....

wow, oi woman get your mits off the Zed, your putting prints on the bonnet!

That's one of the best Zeds Ive seen, got any more pictures? want to see if the front bumper doesnt ruin it.

A Zed is not a car you can just get in and drive, well very rarely anyway unless your looking at 4k+ they can get expensive and very addictive when it comes to upgrades and modernising them. I was very lucky with my SWB i paid a stupidly low price for mine as a project but it passed MOT straight away and runs lovely but i think if you want an swb budget for 3-4k for a good one then insurance on top but 3k would get you a decent lwb.

Craig

I picked up a decent LWB TT Auto for £1450 - so far i have had to spend £125 sorting the thermostat, and she runs perfect.

It only had 70k on the clock - no rust underneath, no major defects, just the odd car park dink and many stone chips in the bonnet.

I have however spent money on chipping it - and will be spending more on a new induction kit and exhaust. The comment about getting the bug is spot on - and already i am budgeting a certain ammount each month to put towards the "Zed Fund" which will be for any emergencies that pop up or any mods that catch my eye.

I think that with 3K to spend you would find something nice - BUT i would recommend taking someone who knows these cars with you on any viewing, as what appears to looks nice might well be a bit of a dog underneath.

Insurance.... how long is a piece of string? i have classic car insurance limited to 8K a year I'm 31 with 7yrs NCB - it costs me £223 a year - or Carol Nash quoted about £550 for a full modern policy (no limitations etc)

Anyways - I hope you find what you are looking for.
