Switched on my lights this morning (it was foggy and I needed an excuse) and the RHS light did not switch on!

Tried a couple of times, waited a minute or so and then worked on the 3rd attempt.

The LHS light was fine each time.

Could there be a problem with the ballast? It is this same light which flickers from cold.

Hoping they will both work tonight!

I will check although never had an issue before.

As these consume less power, the fuse shouldn't need upgrading, but you never know.

Update.

Both lights worked first time after work.

However, just now I popped out for something and both lights didn't come on the first time! Tried again a few seconds later and they were fine.

Could they be affected by damp?

Dont let the ballast case touch the bodywork, cut a piece of plastic to mount them on and use a nylon washer on the bolt.

Read on a few sites that the fuse might need upgrading.

What value should the fuse be for the lights and where is it located?

I thought these lights consumed less power, so why should they need upgrading?

The fuse will either blow and they would not work or be ok, if you have a problem with flickering or intermittent lights its not the fuse.

Thanks. The ballast is not touching the main body itself, but may be touching another piece of metal inside the car. I'll have a look tomorrow.

What a pain! Almost regretting changing the lights to be honest as everything was perfect before.

They are a good modification once they are working fine, had loads of problems with mine when first fitted such as flickering lights, one or the other working when it wanted when damp and this was the cure after months of messing around with everything else.

First thing i'd check it the connections on the car. Maybe the connector is a bit sh1t up with crappy green stuff. Get a bit of switch cleaner and a little screwdriver on the go and see if that sorts your problem. Easy things first i always say :)

Finally, both lights now seem to be working OK.

After weeks of investigation and experiments, it seems that both of the original bulbs were faulty. Only upon swapping both did the system settle down and for the last week, all has been OK.

Strange, very strange, but true.

Sincere thanks to Dan of DTA for his help, advice and support. We spoke every other day and he was a delight to deal with, and for that reason alone, I would recommend him highly.

Hi Shamaz,

I'm VERY glad to hear that the system is now working as it should be. It is indeed extremely rare to find that both bulbs in one kit are faulty. As I told you over the phone, in three years of selling these kits it has never happend to me. I get the occassional defective bulb but never two! I suppose there had to be a first time ... I'm just sorry that it was you!

Thanks also for your endorsement of me and my company - it is appreciated. In fairness, you were the ideal customer to deal with. Very analytical, logical and above all very patient. So by return I would like to say thank you to you too!

All the best,
