I bought some Indiglo Dials off Jeff and intend on maybe fitting them sometime soon, seen as i can do it indoors while its cold and dark of an evening lol.

So anyone wanna gimme some tips and what not. How is best to do it? What NOT to do?? etc...... IIRC people say not to take the needles off, is that the case?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Isaac

Dont remove the needles mate, just slot them over, its a easy job overall :)

Thought so. Thanks for that Paul.

I'm assuming its just a case of stripping everything back and sliding off the old ones and sliding the new ones on. There is'nt anything more complicated than that is there?

One tip for you - put a little glue between the old dial faces and the new faces in a few places or you will find the needles stick.

Do NOT take the needles off!

Don't get any finger print marks on the inside of your lens or it'll drive you mad when you put it together again and you notice!!

Take the live supply from the back of the speedo unit like you would for a speedo convertor, but obviously from the dash light wire switch live.

And try to conseal the little transformer because they give off this slight high pitch noise which varies with the fader and can be quite obvious and annoying!

If the clocks are original then no need to remove the faces, just stick over the top, i used fine double sided tape to help hold them down as i found the needle sometimes would get cought on the dial part way round.

Excellent advice cheers.

Couple of questions tho, surely i can take the old faces off rather than sticking the news ones on top??

Also can you show me a pic of which wires to tap into or whatever i need to do to get em to light up.

For the power you can use the 2 terminals on the underside of the clocks and you also get the original dimmer function too ;)

The old faces stay in place because you can't slight them off the needles.

Right well its a bit of a bummer i have to leave the old ones on but hey ho.

So i need to make sure they're stuck properly then otherwise the needles won't go round lol!

Excellent! Well its got a dimmer aswell but i'd prefer to use the original! So do i just trace the wires from the dimmer to find the right ones? Might sound daft but i can't picture it without having the clocks out and in my hands lol.

A bonus to leaving the original faces on is when you get sick of the indiglow dials like I am now you can just remove them

LOL well hopefully i won't get to that stage but a bonus if i do!

So instead of glue you used double sided tape Paul???? Does that work a treat mate?

When you have the clocks out all will be clear, you need to remove 2 little screws on the bottom of the clocks to get them apart, just pop some terminal connectors on the indiglo wires and fix them with the screws when you pop it all back together, dont worry if you get it the wrong way round and it dont work as wont do any harm, just swap them over ;)

Must be fine tape tho mate, reason I used that is superglue never works when you want it to but I knew it would have immediate effect when I got the dials on the pi$$...lol

LMAO!!! So true!

Ok mate thanks again, i think i'm all set now. Just get myself some very fine double sided tape, altho if i get stuck i can always use glue, we use some pretty good stuff when doing guitars etc.... Super glue is my specialty lol.

As you look at the 2 screws on the bottom of the dash, the left is the live, right is the ground.

You cant take the old faces off anyway and replace with the indiglow, there would be a gap where the needle centre sits and the rest post for the speedo needle would be gone, the only 2 faces that can come off easily are the boost and oil press faces, remove 2 mini screws and they slide off.

Very easy job to do, enjoy

Cheers

Thanks Graham, much appreciated mate!!!! :duffer:

Superglue worked fine for me, I would becareful if using double sided tape, because if too thick you will cause the needle to stick and this is why you are sticking the dials down!

You don't need a lot of glue, just a spot here and there. You should be able to see where the dials aren't sat flat on the originals - place a spot there.
