My old bulbs were HID look - apparantly.

When I took out my old bulbs today to replace them with HIDs, I noticed that they were painted blue.

Looking on the net, it seems that they too were filled with Xenon. That's probably why the light was whiteish! They were made by Bosch.

What do you know about these, and how good are they? I have to say that although the HIDs are the real deal, my previous bulbs were not bad either and the light was white rather than yellow. Visibility was also good, and not what everyone else complains about.

They are probably just an upgraded bulb part filled with Xenon gas to give a 4500k white light, but still only 55w.

Or they could be some upgraded "off road" bulbs that are either 80 or 100w! Some shops sell them, I have used them b4 (not on Zed), but of course at 80/100w use more power than the wiring etc is rated for so could damage other components.

This is what I have fitted to my car (55w upgraded bulb), noticed a slight improvement. I bought them from DTA at £11/pair.

You have the real deal with your kit, they are supposed to be much brighter, but without using more power!

Yeah you can buy upgraded bulbs, are they not named like XID or something like that?

Basically just the same as the HIDS but not as strong.

Mine were 55W. Having researched on the web, it seems that they are more for the look than actual performance, however having now got HIDs, there is actually little comparison.
